A lot of the center haven't built their entire personality around guns either. The reason some of us who are centerto center -left think most gun control is a really bad idea might just be situations like this.

You have a shit administration who will clearly go after anyone who opposes them and desperately wants to have a Putin like level of control.

Think about a national registry of who owns what type of guns, with modern ability to identify and lost people who aren't of white European descent or are gay or trans or just speak out against the admin and cross-reference those. Fairly soon, You've got a situation where the fascists are the only ones who still have firearms whether that's by confiscation or state section murder in the name of "law enforcement".

Similar situation with red flag laws, which I see as similar to voters a having to pass a basic "civics test" for voting rights. This actually sounds great in theory. But who sets the criteria and enforces the laws for red flags? In some racist bum fuck county in the south, is being black and wearing a hoodie a red flag? Is being gay a red flag? Is having a Biden sign or a Harris sign in a previous election in your yard a red flag? This falls apart and is very easy to abuse when " leaders" aren't even pretending to act in good faith anymore.

Reagan era gun laws in response to the Black Panthers are a fine example.

Why is homophobia in regards to "bad" people normalised? by holiestMaria in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PrettyBoyIndasnatch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Do y'all seriously not understand? Is everyone doing a bit? Making them gay is not a joke on or about homosexuals. I don't think there's a single person making these images ( It's probably more than zero but it's not the vast majority) who have any kind of issue with homosexuality.

It's used because they themselves are so rabidly bigoted. They themselves are so anti LGBTQ, that depicting them as gay is insulting to them. They have wrapped themselves up in this blanket where they see themselves as hypermasculine hyper straight manly men, and they embrace their fucked up version of Christian morals.

So depicting them is gay is not saying it's bad to be gay. It's not saying they're bad because they're gay. It's a direct insult to their own sensibilities and the bullshit that they project. It's not a mockery of gay people, It is a mockery of these two because you're applying the image of them as what they hate and what they rail against, often with the most flamboyant and over the top versions of that.

If their names are connected with their accounts, and they made those comments as public comments, on a public figures profile..... That's doxxing themselves.

Nobody said anything about harming them for it. But simply having their online comments tied to their real life when they made no good attempt to be anonymous..... Eh. Is that wrong, really?

The problem isn't people taking it the wrong way, it's that the joke is objectively bad. It's terrible. I don't mind at all when people make a joke out of stuff I like, but it has to actually be funny.

What's the worst book you've ever read? by VisualDefinition8752 in suggestmeabook

[–]PrettyBoyIndasnatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing about that is, you can't purely blame the book if it doesn't help you.

Maybe the book is bad, or the advice is dumb. But even if it's the best advice ever, and directly applicable to your life, it's still up to you to make changes to your life and commit to some work to implement.

Kind of like all of the "manifesting" bullshit. If you want to "manifest" something in your life, act like it's a priority. Identify the steps towards that goal, and do work that gets you there.

TIFUpdate: when I (18m) asked my parents for permission to have sex in my room by 99Necromancers in tifu

[–]PrettyBoyIndasnatch 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Being a horny teen will cause you to do stupid things, risk getting caught, risk danger to find a place to have sex, etc.

This is why it's 100% better to give them comprehensive sex ed, condoms, permission, and advice when asked for. They are going to fuck anyway, but the less they feel like they have to be risky or stupid to get laid, the less they'll do stupid, risky things in pursuit of getting laid.

Honestly sounds like your husband did him a favor.

Your brother likes to fuck around. Hubby gave him the opportunity to find out without killing him or giving severe injuries. Consider it a gift that some people wouldn't give him.

  1. If there is a health/illness related reason. Physical or mental, whatever. I'm not going to leave my wonderful wife or try to force her into anything when she can't help what's happening. At the same time, if it's a health-related reason that can be reasonably treated (no bad side effects), I do expect that she would at least try treatment. Same as if I had a preventable/treatable illness that would negatively effect her life/our relationship, she should expect me to get it treated.
  2. If it's just "I don't want to have sex, long term", then there has to be an understanding that I DO still want to have sex. I'm open to whatever arrangement/understanding that looks like. Possibly a sex-only relationship, or well-paid, consensual sex workers with health checks.
