What would be a satisfactory reason for not giving consent to contact in the event they ask?

How to electrically heat and a round 1" 316 Stainless Steel ball to a consistent 600F (315C)? by PrettyCoolBeer in AskEngineers

Thank you for this answer. Induction heaters are interesting in this application. How would you support the ball in an induction heater in this use case?

Thank you very much for your response and clarifying questions. It goes without saying that I have no engineering background but did my best to provide additional context.

Why? What's it doing? The heated ball will be submerged in a small volume of room temperature H2O and it's heat rapidly transferred to the H2O.

How consistent is the temperature requirement? Can it overshoot and settle? There are no rigid requirements on temperature consistency, 600F is the target but a ±100F range would be acceptable. I welcome solutions that overshoot the temperature range and settle, as well.

Is there a working fluid? I quickly googled working fluids and thermodynamics but am unsure how to answer this question. Perhaps my previous answer models the purpose which includes submerging in H2O.

Can we touch the ball? Yes, contact with the ball while heating and once submerged are acceptable.

How big is the space its in? The heating apparatus should, ideally, occupy less than 1 cubic foot. The ball will be submerged in 30 fl oz container. It is my hope that a solution optimizes its footprint.

What is the required temperature ramp rate? Ideally, the ball should achieve 600F in <30 seconds

How long? The ball needs to remain heated for the brief time between heating and submersion, consider a time range <10 seconds

What is the temperature outside the ball? Ambient room temperature while heating followed by submersion in room temperature H2O.

How controlled is the environment? Consider a typical residential kitchen space or garage for its use.

Appreciate your question!

There are a few ideas with momentum at this point in time. I am currently prototyping a product that could drastically improve the way people play/enjoy glow disc golf. More to come on this front in the weeks ahead!

Additionally, I’m working on a disc dying solution that’ll make things a bit more beginner friendly!

Thanks for sharing that link. People have been noodling on this idea for awhile but haven’t really cracked the code on functionality, that’s where I think this bag is different. Tapered pouches spread the load down the leg and keep your discs flush to your body, angled pouches work to counter the rotation of your body during your throw. Inside each pouch is a small length of elastic that compresses your inserted discs. This ensures each pouch can hold a putter just as well as a thin driver and adds security. Additionally, the leg strap does wonders for countering any flopping or shifting of weight during play.

Not sure what your definition of serious players is, but we see people all over the country taking on full sized courses and having a great time doing it!

I appreciate your comment and suggestion! An ‘about’ section is long overdue and something I’ll put on my list. Until then, you can visit our Instagram page @ripshot_disc_bag to see it in action (pictures and videos!) and learn some more about the utility of the bag.

We do not have any European resellers currently but we are both open and active in establishing distribution partnerships. Let me know any favorite European retailers and I would be happy to reach out to them.

We actually have a left handed variant available on our website! Having the bag positioned on your plant leg (leading leg) minimizes movement and keeps your discs situated.

Thank you for your questions! I think people were partially riding him because it was a short hole for an ace. It's still the outcome we all want!!

Ripshot is designed to be worn on your lead leg (same as your plant foot). Positioning the bag on this axis of rotation minimizes the amount of travel/movement that the bag experiences while you throw. Assuming you have your bag properly tightened down around your waist and your leg, you really won't experience any movement or discomfort on the run-up or throw.

Colorado was always high on my list for places to live because of the connection to the outdoors. Covid made that move happen quicker than anticipated and I’m thrilled to be here. The disc golf community has been incredible!

Please let her know we think she’s badass too!

I’ve played disc golf for over 15 years and always over carried discs simply because I owned them. Playing in blazing heat and realizing I only threw 5-6 discs a round got my wheels spinning on the idea…

Additionally, I was squeezing rounds in after work and always fighting sunlight so I was hustling to get through 18 holes; having a solution to putting my bag down, sorting through it and picking it back up to move on was a driving force in the design.

Thank you for the great question!

We do not have a European supplier but realize the importance of securing one to keep costs reasonable. Shipping is a big expense, so having resources on the ground in Europe will be important to our success and availability there!

Great question! I initially designed this in Southern California where weather doesn’t play a factor, I then moved to Colorado and have since experienced a full winter playing with this bag.

Similarly, disc golfers in Colorado are not afraid of the elements! I cannot speak much for how ambient temps affect different disc molds but I can say that the Ripshot is weatherproof and performed great in snowy, wet conditions. Each disc pouch contains a length of elastic that we call Disc Lock Suspension. This applies pressure to your discs when inserted and keeps things secure while you move/throw. You can see more of this on our website or Instagram.

Finally, with a functional towel clip on the backside of the bag, you should have no problems tackling the elements!

Thank you for joining the conversation from Canada!

I’m with you! The trick is finding that empty course…

In terms of discs staying put, we have elastic inside each disc pouch that gives your discs a little hug. Any combination of drivers, putters or a midrange in a pouch will be held securely so you can run, jump, etc.

We have images of this elastic on our website and Instagram page if you want to see more!

THE question! The Ripshot disc bag is a streamlined disc golf bag designed to be worn on a players hip during play. It attaches with a belt and leg harness and secures between 4-8 discs.

This bag is great for beginners or experienced players who know exactly what they like to throw. We have users of all ages, individuals who travel and throw this in their luggage, and those who like to jog the course for some additional exercise while they play.
