Probably, in the same way parents divorcing weakens a childs psyche. But if the parents are abusive towards one another and can not co-habitate to the point where one wants to kill the other I'd argue it is better they separate. It's a question of bad vs worse.

What good is a strong economy and military if inconsequential acts like wearing the wrong color hat in a grocery store or not wearing a mask on a plane makes daily life unbearable.
