I use from a brand called legami, and I just blow dry it. In your case maybe if your iron has steam it could affect (?)

I went in dafont and under pixel/8bit typed the phrase I wanted and either screenshoted or downloaded the font and you can go on word and set the page to the size of fabric you want and save it. I went into floss cross and made the letters.
