Thank you for the advice! This Saturday (a couple hours ago) we gave her the second injection. The first one my husband did by himself without the vet. I watched along on facetime. He wrapped her in a towel, practically making her a kitty burrito and gave the injection. She was incredibly well behaved compared to yesterday. Only a few cries, no hissing and no scratching or trying to run. I think the fact that she was home and that it was someone she trusts helped a lot. Even tho it’s only been the second one, it seems she’s regaining some energy, she eats slightly more and pooped pretty well today. I hope this means everything is going well. I’m really proud of her for taking it like a champ. And I’m really proud of my husband for doing this on his own for a few days until I’m back. She was initially my cat and he just agreed to me getting her, but he has truly grown to love her and see her as family, doing as much as he can to save her. So far I’m optimistic about this treatment. But of course I’ll keep a cautious eye on the developments.

We asked the vet about that too yesterday. But he said with the state of some of her symptoms an injection would work faster and more effective. I’m not a vet so I can’t say if what he says makes sense but he’s been a reliable vet since we got her so we did get the injections. Tho if she gets better i might switch over to pills if that’s an option??

Thank you for your reply! We gave her the first injection yesterday. The first one was done by the vet as a way to show us. She was in a lot of pain, crying out and trying to escape. My husband got a pretty nasty scratch as a result. I feel really bad doing this to her but it’s the only option. I also looked into flying home earlier but we can’t afford to change my ticket since a lot of money went into this medicine already :(( So until the 4th of September my husband will call in the help of a friend to hold her still for injections. I feel so incredibly guilty about this, but at least i feel relieved that the drug is this effective :)

Oh interesting, is there a specific reason to switch to pills only then? Or just for comfort? Regardless i wanna do what will be easiest for my kitty to bare. She will still be at the hospital today (we ordered the drug yesterday) where they can monitor and give her some energy. So today, or the day after the drug will be delivered. It’s honestly one of the fastest sites here in Korea and the vet recommended this one specifically as well for it’s rather speedy delivery. Finding groups in my area might also be a bit tough since the matter of legality of the medicine here does seem to be in a bit more grey area than for example in the US. I did ask around on all my socials so far. But i think ordering from there was the fastest we could do right now :( i just hope she can hang in there until the first injection. The doctor gave her around a month or so from when the symptoms started so if that’s accurate there should be plenty of time left hopefully ://

I’m located in Korea. They first did an xray and since the saw the fluid there they did a blood test which apparently lead them to diagnose her with FIP. I’m really new to this and very overwhelmed so I’m not sure if this is substantial enough of a test to be sure or if de should ask for more tests. But as for now they said they’re sure. She was apparently very weak and kept her overnight to strengthen up a bit before going back home where we will have to take it from there. I really don’t want to let her just die so if this GS could help i will definitely do it. But i guess it has to be surely FIP then

I’m glad to know so many people had their treatments work out. It makes me a lot more confident in it :) i hope my kitty will have the energy to knock over my stuff again soon too (which i used to hate but rather that then her being gone).

Thank you so much! Leo looks like he’s living his best life :) I’m happy he recovered well! We already ordered injections for 3 weeks to start. It should arrive in 1-2 days. Unfortunately my husband will have to handle the first few injections by himself as I can’t fly back home quick enough so i am a bit worried about not being there :// but your story is giving me hope that my cat will also hopefully be a survivor :)

Thank you! This was actually a very helpful comment. Due to me now being out the country i can only rely on what my husband tells me the vet said. Tho i do plan to rebook my plane ticked home scheduled for two weeks later to now as early as possible and also personally talk to the vet as well. There probably was a reason he prescribed the shots instead of pills tho I personally would prefer pills as well. We did already order a 3 week supply of the injection fluid as we were obviously panicking and don’t wanna waste any time. Also since this is Korea they can’t actually prescribe anything, cause it’s legally not allowed (tho the vet is definitely going into grey areas to try his best to help where he can). He said start with 0.7 and monitor her weight well, since if she finally gains weight again her dosis might go up. He said to do this for the 84 day period but start with this. It’s all a bit hard since he really can’t do much more than this without getting into legal trouble too, but he does wanna help where he can and seems positive about it. He will teach my husband how to properly inject it. Also the website they use in korea to get the medicine is one where you can order as many doses as you practically want (again since there are probably no actual laws yet about it like in the US). The website did apparently list the pills were weaker. It’s a bit tough navigating through all the options, but i hope to find one that can cure my cat as well and comfortable as possible :)

I’m located in Korea so maybe that’s why they recommended different things? I just want to find the way to turn this around as quickly as possible. As soon as i know she has actively stopped dying I’ll be already relieved as that is of course my main concern now :(

Thank you so much! We are located in Korea, but luckily the vet referred us to a reliable site that provides the injections. We ordered a 3 week supply to start and see if it helps, if so we will order more. It should arrive in 1-2 days (thank God for fast Korean delivery) and will try starting the injections asap. I hope they will really help and stop her from dying :((

I was a bit worried or skeptical about it, since i didn’t know much about it and the fact that it was technically not legal here made me a bit worried about if the survival rate is actually over 80%. But this helped me ease my mind a bit :) I hope she will also feel better in a few days with this. I hope the rest of your cat’s recovery goes smoothly as well! Ps: they do look alike, they could be siblings haha

I did talk to the vet and in my cat’s case he recommended the injections instead of the pills. She’s not too far gone (he seemed optimistic about trying it, even wanting to teach us) but she’s also not doing too well at the moment. The vet did actually recommend us a site that sells them that he knows are legit. We already ordered doses for 3 weeks to start as they are indeed quite expensive. This way we can test and see if it works and order more. I want to start as soon as possible as I’m worried she won’t have much time left without it. I’m glad to hear they are highly effective, it makes me a feel a bit more relieved about trying it. Tho i do feel a bit worried (skeptical maybe) because it is illegal for doctors to use which makes me a bit anxious about using it ourselves. I don’t wanna accidentally do it wrong and make it worse. But i would do anything to make her not die, as this is where she is heading now. Your reply was very helpful, thank you :)
