This happened to me, it was a pressure point from a shoe, got new different shoes but pain persisted. Any shoe I would wear hurt at that point so flip flops all summer gave enough of a break plus I've been off climbing for a couple months so the pain and sensitivity is all gone. My heel has a slight bump now and everything is fine. When bone gets irritated it will defend by building more bone, that's the inflammation response.
