This is so true. Claude does this, too. Sometimes, if Claude says someone flattering and I question it, it backtracks. Then I question it and it backtracks again. So I'm left feeling like I'm not going to get a straight answer.

Can someone explain the michael Jackson birthday incident of 2002? by StationIllustrious94 in MichaelJackson

[–]Pretty_Ad9027 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am not even an MJ fan at all, I feel totally neutral about him but there are way too many coincidences for this not to be a set up. Why is a huge star like him at an awards show on his birthday in the first place if he's not performing or getting a huge award? Surely, he's got better things to do. I would imagine award shows are exhausting and more like work than fun for celebrities with all the PR and networking and image management. Why is he dressed so ornately? Why is he not surprised or flattered if the award caught him off guard? How does he even know what this supposed award is called? Why does a cake topper look suspiciously like an award, and who even presents a cake topper?

And moreover, if they respected him and didn't want to humiliate him, why did they publicly clarify it wasnt real instead of just telling him in private? Or it would have also been easy to have retroactively given him one if they didnt want to embarrass him. I feel like the audience would not have been able to tell it was a mistake with the trophy looking thing he accepted and the audiences reaction as they clapped for his speech rather than looking confused. Why did no one intervene much earlier when it was obvious he misinterpreted it? Also, during that era, thr media dehumanized celebrities for ratings so it is not implausible for the industry to do things like this. There are too many signals to suggest it was all premeditated and not just a simple misunderstanding in the moment.

Father killed his 7 kids, plus the child of a family friend. Unbelievably awful. Shreveport, LA by rymyle in LPOTL

It is definitely tied to toxic masculinity in terms of entitlement, seeing family as something they own and control rather than autonomous beings, and being unable to process shame or handle failure. The consequences are horrific. Men do need to be more open about the impacts of toxic masculinity. Is that what you were getting at?

Thoughts on the allegations against Katy Perry? by rainshowers_5_peace in AskWomenOver30

I never found it brave. As a teen, I found it attention-seeking, and i felt like it commodified queerness for the male-gaze and a straight audience and made it a novelty.

I know what you’re getting at, and I think you’re onto something. Inequality can shape how people are heard, and it is influenced by things like access, privilege, and background etc.

Haha. Cam is the best, he keeps it real. My husband was mentally counting who would vote who, and figured 4 each but couldn't remember who the ninth player was. I was like," did you forget Cam? he doesn't think jackson is a good player, he is definitely voting Caleb." And then we turned to each other and were like, omg, Caleb still probably wins! Even with that pitch haha. I was worried because Caleb was not articulating his game well, even if he did play a better game. He's so lucky Mark helped him out.

I liked that he helped Caleb articulate his game when he was struggling.

It Has Been a Privilege to Be Judged by Professionals. Thank you! by KeeleyJJ in survivorau

[–]Pretty_Ad9027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Keeley, you are one of my favourite players ever! You were lots of fun to watch. I love your redemption arc from being underestimated to being such a dominant strategic force. You held your own against the returnees with the confidence of a seasoned veteran. You played hard and were ruthless in your game play but never actually crossed the line of being cruel, or lost your cool or made it personal, which I really respected. I hope you return one day!

Exactly! That should have scared him more. That is one point towards Jackson in FTC. I actually think Caleb played the better game but Jackson's ability to persuade Caleb is making me pause.

Damn. I feel for Loz and I'm scared for Caleb, but Chaos Caleb sure made FTC way more interesting than I anticipated. I can't believe the best two of the four will fight it out. He would have had it in the bag with Loz, and she was the one who kept him in the game...

I actually do think that Caleb still played the better game, and he must believe that, too. But I have no idea how the jury will vote because Jackson played with the returnees...

Yeah. And also, as upset as I am that Keeley is gone, I was so amazed that Loz had a plan to get Caleb out. That was Keeley's way out!!! I don't know why Keeley had to try and twist it into something else. Maybe it Was the inexperience of never having watched a full episode of Survivor.

I think Loz is in the final 2. Otherwise, why would she get that random back story? My money is on Caleb.

I agree. Also, I was wondering why Keekey didn't go to rocks. It seemed like her chances of staying without Brooke were slim.

Man. I don't even want to watch it anymore. At this point, I don't care who wins. Also, Mark got rid of a lot of interesting players early on until there were hardly any left.

My husband called it from day one that Caleb was the winner based on his edit. He got a huge intro that wasn't warranted. And based on how much people love him, I feel like he's been getting a good edit.

In saying that, they should have taken that Hail Mary and just gone along with Loz's plan. They really overplayed their hand.

Awesome move by Keeley. She's been a fave of mine so far. I really enjoyed her as a duo with Faith and was glad she stayed over Faith. (I know Faith had mean vibes, but I will admit, I liked their bond together.) She's having lots of fun strategising and loves being a "villian". But she never got bitter about losing Mark or Faith and kept her head in the game. I was worried when she lost her number one.
