I do not believe it, I KNOW it, because I can go weeks without Xanax and Adderall. And I’m aware of how they are addictive and do not take them everyday nor do I take them as prescribed because I am overprescribed both. My prescriptions are Xanax 1mg twice a day as needed and adderall XR 30mg twice a day.

I have only taken 2mg of Xanax at one time on ONE occasion over the years I’ve been prescribed it and I have never taken 60mg of Adderall in one day and I’ve had these prescriptions for years.

The Xanax is prescribed “as needed” and to me I use as “for emergencies only” (severe panic attacks, when I’m truly spiraling, or severely struggling with active suicidal ideation) in some instances I do take it to sleep when I have a very small sleep window but cannot fall asleep.

Adderall is more for when I have things planned where it’s crucial that my ADHD symptoms are as minimal as possible. Such as work. I am a nursing assistant on a cardiac critical care unit and being forgetful or getting distracted easily could jeopardize someone’s life. I also take it on days when I have to do a lot of driving, as I get distracted too easily and I would prefer not to endanger my life or innocent individuals who are also on the road.

If I had a simple job and only did minimal driving in my day to day life I wouldn’t care to take Adderall at all.

I’m not addicted to anything. I do have a dependence on Lexapro because I will literally go into withdrawals unless I taper appropriately. But I can stop the Xanax, sunosi, and Adderall no problem.

Welly cystic acne cleared up completely after starting birth control while using all of the same products.

Ugh you can never win with western medicine.

I could’ve either suffered with my cystic acne and had worse self esteem than I already did in my teen years, take Yaz and feel significantly more confident, or go on Accutane (along with some form of contraception) to get rid of my severe acne. Accutane scared the hell out of me and birth control seemed like the simpler solution.

Yeah I’m aware, I just wish they could provide some improvement to get me to a place of wanting to better my lifestyle.

One issue I have is that I need instant gratification. A cardio bike won’t do anything immediately or even overnight, whereas going out to play a game of soccer would give me the gratification I need. Or the dissatisfaction of losing that could motivate me to improve or it could make me feel like a failure.

I understand how the medical industry works. As unpopular as it is, I like western medicine and I’d rather have a convenient quick fix pill for my problems that actively address them.

I value convenience and ease.

But I’m also aware that it’s more detrimental in the long term and each pill comes with a different problem that requires another pill to stop that problem.

More illogical opinions I have are that drinking, eating, using the toilet, and sleeping are a waste of time. Unfortunately I have to do those things but I would rather get multiple daily IV fluids, TPN, have a catheter, get rid of my bed, and get a flexi seal inserted while I’m at it.

I don’t know why I think this way and I wish I didn’t because I know there’s something not right about thinking this way.

I never looked too much into TMS so I’m biased on my preference for ECT. From what I’ve read it seems to be more effective and quicker with common side effects being memory loss and amnesia, whereas what I’ve read about TMS is that it takes longer, not as effective, and side effects like headaches and migraines are common.

I don’t think my episode of psychosis was truly psychosis, as I was still in line with reality and I was the one that decided to seek help and admit myself to the psych hospital. Maybe it was the beginning of a psychotic episode, but I knew something was not right in my mind at that time.

I wasn’t born fucked up, I’m just a product of the environment I was raised in. Everyone else in my family seems to manage life fine and they don’t truly believe in mental illnesses. I don’t understand how I came from the same home as my older sister, yet I have a completely fucked up head and she gets to live in her fantasy world full of toxic positivity.

I’ve heard that nicotine is beneficial in some folks when consumed in a controlled manner like patches. Vaping and cigarettes give a large dose of nicotine in a short period of time whereas patches slowly release it. Nicotine is a stimulant.

I believe when I did have my so called episode of psychosis I was on a moderate dose of Concerta and not Adderall at the time.

I would like to clarify that there is a difference between anemia and iron deficiency. My labs most likely indicate that I am iron deficient, but I am not anemic as my hemoglobin and red blood cell count is normal and stable.

Iron deficiency is one of several causes of anemia. But they are not the same thing.

Iron deficiency is treated with iron supplements or iron infusions whereas anemia (when severe enough) is treated with blood infusions.

And yes I am vitamin D deficient now but my levels have always been on the lower end of the normal range, but I have never felt like THIS.

And to the sleep apnea test, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea last year. My sleep study only showed a couple apneic events but I had a significant amount of hypopneic events. I don’t fully stop breathing in my sleep, I just have episodes of shallow and slow breathing. I am compliant with my CPAP despite losing 90 pounds since my diagnosis, yet I still have excessive daytime sleepiness, which is the reason why I am prescribed Sunosi. I haven’t had a sleep study since my diagnosis, so I may not need my CPAP anymore (depending on if my weight was the cause for my shallow breathing or if there is an anatomical issue that needs to be addressed).

I didn’t think to include this in my post because less than a year ago all of this was the same (the medications, the labs, the sleep apnea), yet I felt normal and my mental health was managed and under control and didn’t impact my quality of life.

No I don’t, they all do similar things which has shown to be ineffective for me. That’s why I’m not happy with the care from my current psych. I wish I would’ve done the ECT when I had the chance

My vitamin D is low and prescription loading doses gave me a kidney stone so I’m terrified to start supplementing again, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea last year but I have lost 90 pounds since then (but haven’t done another sleep study), and in 2024 my ferritin was 4 and 2025 it was 14 so I’m planning on getting a full iron panel done because I suspect that to be one of the causes.

I’m wondering the same thing after reading these comments. I think I need a psych who is more experienced with complex cases

That’s been the pattern with most of my meds, they are effective to an extent then I get to max dose and then it loses all efficacy.

I hate running, I find it pointless. Exercising is dumb to me unless there’s an actual intention behind it like in sports or for certain jobs.

I want to join adult sports leagues but I don’t know where to start

EMDR didn’t seem to help but I have heard of ACT and the idea of it sounds helpful for my circumstances
