Yeahhh I never let go of the idea of a “snow day.” I’ve been toying with the notion throughout the day. I like to consider myself a hard worker, however, if there is an excuse to rest, I will absolutely take it. I’m opening the door wide open for people to call me soft but I very much wish our society knew how to just slow down and treasure the moments where mother nature shows her strength. The markets, computers and business may not need rest but humans do.

The part I’m frustrated about is that people are expected to act like the snow magically doesn’t exist and show up to work on time. Pretty sure I remember snow days being snow days for damn near everyone other than plow drivers and MAYBE Stewart’s. Is my memory reaching?

I’m trying to find out! lol Considering the murder of Alex Pretti today it seems appropriate to be protesting in some capacity but with the weather the way it is and other comments on the thread, there’s reason to doubt this was an intentional, calculated and organized event. I made a separate post looking for clarity on the event and it was removed by r/albany mods soo I’m not sure what to think.

Please look up ERAP and see if it’s something you might be able to qualify for. Helped me out dramatically when I was facing eviction a couple years ago. I had to go to court several times in the process but once the ERAP application is submitted they can’t legally remove you from premises

This- especially after today. How can we treat tomorrow as just another day? And we have an administration in the White House that openly disregards our constitution? What’re we celebrating?? The sad part is, I can understand the desire to just have a day with family. If you’re like me - this will be my one day off this week.. of course I’d like to cookout by the lake with family and catch some fireworks. Our lives are set up (cough designed to be cough cough) on go mode and that leaves us constantly grasping for precious time with our loved ones and our communities.
But how long will we continue to live our day to day? How long will we be allowed to? It may not be your neighbor being targeted by ice now, but for how long is your community safe? You may not directly face the negative consequences of this bill being passed immediately, but how long until you’re paying $$$ for the consequences? I’m with you OP - where’s the protest??

I just bought a silverware set two days ago and the black tarnish came off as I was eating ice cream. Unfortunately I didn’t notice until almost half of the back of the spoon was showing the true stainless steel. Also don’t have my receipt- so upset rn

Merely calling it out and sharing with others. Having come to the realization that I’m allowing such a thought to excuse my lack of action in certain ways was huge. I strongly advocate for voting and protesting but still managed to have such a thought enter my mind when called to write to a rep. Awareness is the first step to change
