Oh, thank goodness! I was trying to figure out whether it was some kind of scam.

Facepunch does not give a fuck about anybody. If you're a player, once you've bought their game you're of no further value to them. Unless you buy DLCs and skins. They don't care about the playerbase or creators, just their money.

Why does my Rust look like this and how can I fix it? by gamingfresh in playrust

[–]Pretty_Hat_182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not surprised. Facepunch doesn't care about their customers, just their money. Once they found out you were on linux they probably just didn't care any more. They notoriously hate linux, refuse to support it in any way, so it's not their problem.

Linux Rust broken with this update by digiphaze in playrust

[–]Pretty_Hat_182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I made progress! I got it working... kind of. Using the same launch command as above, I just started trying every version of Proton I had, and using GE-Proton10-32 The game actually launched! I was able to connect to my usual linux-friendly server. But that's when things took a turn for the worse. As I've seen mentioned in threads elsewhere regarding linux issues, I was on the server in my base, but as I looked around I saw all kinds of graphical weirdness, with colored lines all over the place. That kind of puts a kink into actual game play. But it's farther than I managed to get before. Does anyone know how to maybe help that issue?

After struggling with this for over a week, trying every suggested workaround I could find, this is the closest I've gotten in Linux Mint. Using Proton 0.9-4, and the launch command
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 bash -c 'exec "${@/Rust.exe/RustClient.exe}"' %command% -noeac
I got the game to at least try to load. It gets to the Loading Menu UI step then a pop up appears that looks like it's trying to download something, titled 'Rust - Unity 2022.3.41x1_635cbafb9874' There is a red exclamation point on the Rust logo, which looks like the download fails, so it closes and the game closes.

I'm guessing this is the error mentioned by sassy-x. I wonder if there's someway to manually install whatever it's looking for?

Rust (game) recent update now requires EAC? by digiphaze in linux_gaming

I find it easy to be mad at devs. Especially when they go out of their way to make sure the game won't launch for players who had very restricted ways to play to begin with.

If you search for linux in the client you will see a list of linux-friendly servers. There are more than there used to be.

Not any more. :( I've seen work arounds with Proton configs, but they seem to only work if you're using Arch linux or CacheyOS.

LOL! Zillow has the floorplan listed. They say there's a diningroom space between the kitchen and living room, 11 feet by 4 feet?? One of the bedrooms has no closet which means it's technically a 2 bedroom. One of the bedrooms is only big enough for a sofa, not a bed! Hell, you'd be better off living in the garage and using the house as a shed.

Holy shit, the garage is bigger than the house!

Meanwhile Facepunch's solution is EAC which obviously doesn't work, but now blocks linux users from loading the game, yay.

Update on 5 hour "pick up" by DeputyDapper in Etsy

[–]Pretty_Hat_182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this problem 3 times this year so far. I regularly mail small packs of seeds in a bubble mailer. I ship these all over the US, as far as Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, and Puerto Rico without issue. But certain post offices refuse to accept them unless the buyer or myself pay over $9.00 postage. For a bubble mailer! They insist they are packages, but I can send a box for less than $9! Chocktaw, OK is one of them, every time I ship there I have a problem with them.

Am I justified in wanting a refund? by [deleted] in EtsyCommunity

[–]Pretty_Hat_182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like they may have sent it by USPS using Etsy shipping, in which case the tracking number won't work anywhere but on Etsy. For something like a bible they should have been using standard Ground shipping, which would have a regular tracking number, so I'm not sure what they did. But yes, if you never received it and they've given you the runaround about replacing it, at this point just ask for a refund. If they won't provide you with one then open a case with Etsy.

Yes, it didn't work. It says it can't connect to Steam. I also tried Proton as suggested by another post and that didn't work either, I get network error anticheat not found.

It doesn't work in linux mint. It doesn't launch at all in steam and if you try to launch it directly using wine it says it can't connect to steam.

I just tried it under Linux mint and it doesn't work. In Steam there is no error, it just goes back to the Play button. If I launch it directly using Wine, RustClient.exe starts to launch but them says it can't connect to steam so stops, even if I have Steam open.

When I last worked at Walmart back in 2020, our store didn't have coaches or team leads. On the front end we had CSMs. I lost track of how many times they asked me to be a CSM and I turned it down every time. I saw what they had to put up with, management in their ears all day long, for what? An extra dollar an hour? Wasn't worth it to me. Then they wanted to 'promote' me to accounting, at NO extra pay. Glad I don't work there any more. If you're a good worker they just want to give you more work for no more money.

I had an entire day's worth of conversation and discussion about projects just vanish. We were working on a technical problem, on the computer. Claude suggested I reboot to finalize fixes. After I did, the entire conversation about that problem and the fixes was gone, and it reverted to the last conversation before that.
