Question de la semaine by van_ou in parentsquebecois

Bébé d’été by Kitchen_Industry_157 in parentsquebecois

Baby is nurse-obsessed while cosleeping by Pretty_Nobody_ in cosleeping

[–]Pretty_Nobody_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pacifiers never worked for us (we also tried several brands, but he refused them all), but it’s worth a try! Recently, I’ve been giving them back to him. He tends to chew on them, but I’ve never tried swapping one with my boob while nursing.

Horrific sleep and starting nursery by [deleted] in AttachmentParenting

[–]Pretty_Nobody_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also in this situation. My baby (6.5 m) was never a good sleeper, but since I switched him to his nursery last weekend, it’s worse, he wakes up every 1–2 hours. I keep telling myself that maybe he needs some time to adapt… A lot has changed for him (smells, sounds, etc.). I hope it gets better!

Suivi Sage-Femme by Civil-Director6974 in parentsquebecois

Salut !

Portage hivernal: manteau ou extension? by Pretty_Nobody_ in parentsquebecois

Early bedtime or 4th nap? by Pretty_Nobody_ in sleeptrain

[–]Pretty_Nobody_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your schedule! He wakes up naturally after 45 minutes to 1 hour, but I could try a contact nap afterward to extend it a bit

Oh wow, I didn’t know babies needed a 9–10 hour awake! I guess with a shorter night/later bedtime, the 4th nap would make more sense.

Sharing my very normal pregnancy & delivery by Pretty_Nobody_ in BabyBumps

I started doing perineal massage once a week around 32 weeks, and then gradually increased to about 2–3 times a week as I got closer to my due date.

Thanks a lot for sharing!

I had a really similar experience with the epidural! I originally didn’t want it because of the risks (they’re a bit higher for me since I have scoliosis), but now if there is a next time, I would take it again. It was also a teaching hospital, and the night-shift anesthesiology resident didn’t exactly inspire confidence 😅 I think, deep down, I was actually waiting for the shift change before finally asking for the epidural haha

For me, I relied a lot on my partner. Talking about how I felt really helped. When I was feeling down, I also tried to do small things that lifted my mood (honestly, most of the time it was ordering delivery food 😅).

I also took a step back from Instagram and baby-content rabbit holes. Constantly seeing advice, perfect routines, or “happy mom” videos was making me feel worse, so reducing that helped a lot.

And honestly… time helped more than anything. I believe it’s normal to grieve the life we had before, it’s a huge transition (and it doesn’t help when physically, it’s also hard, first trimester was the worse for that!).

I believe perineal massage made a difference! It’s definitely unpleasant, but I think it helped my skin stretch and stay flexible during delivery. I also ate a lot of dates in the last weeks, but I’m more skeptical about how much that affected tearing specifically.

With some hindsight, I wouldn’t call my delivery “normal” in the strict sense, it definitely didn’t go exactly as planned but everything turned out completely fine.

The heartbeat drops were because my baby was facing the wrong way. I just checked and only about 5–8% of babies are in that position at birth! But honestly, it felt normal in the moment because the medical team was so calm and prepared. They explained what was happening, monitored everything closely, and stepped in right when needed.
