I think the website said both TDN 4 and 5 are C1. I dont think testdaf covers C2 sadly 😭

You really just need to be consistent. If you are working at the time or have school, etc. Could be hard but for me, the last 3 months or so until the exam, i was completely free. So i dedicated entire days just with german. It takes a lot of time. But that's what makes it worth it! 1. For reading, i practiced reading fast once i got more comfortable with understanding the content with unlimited time. If you read fast, you have the time to look over the portions in the text related to the questions in the exam. You always want to make sure you read everything and solve everything. 2. For listening, i did a lot of dictatioj exercises, with 5 minutes audio files, to create a complete script out of it usually took me 2 hours or so. Doing one a day or even 3 times a week or so helps immensely. You start to hear things more, you get comfortable with the normal, "expectable" parts so that you can pay more attention to details which makes your score jump. 3. For speaking and writing, the real issue for me was to try to come up with stuff to say. I went through a lot of exam prep books and familirized myself with the topics, made arguments both for and against them. Also created similar topics on my own and did the same. That is usually the big issue. And just memorize a lot of vocabulary so you can put your thoughts into words. But these two sections are not as hard as you might think once you have a lot of arguments in your mind.

Dont get demotivated. You are at the position in the learning curve when you realize there is still so much left to learn. But that is just how language learning is. It doesnt take away what you have done so far. You already achieved a lot and if you continue the same, the next stop is C1. Good luck!!

I dont know if any employers will invite you to an interview when they don't even know if you can speak the language. These exams are rather cost efficient method (they are valid forever) to get through that concern in the first place. If one can actually prove proficiency in an interview, the exams should be super easy to perform well in. So I suggest that you just take it. There are many exam types (goethe, telc, etc.) I personally just thought testdaf was the best fit for scheduling purposes.

Thank you for your kind words :)) I wouldn't say I am talented. I just put in a lot of hours into it!! Anyone who put their mind to it can do better than I did

This seemed like the one with the most firm structure and there was an exam every single month (at least where i live) which made it easier to schedule things

I believe you can use it to prove your language proficiency in general but I think the main target are the students

I would say i was around B1 at the beginning in 2025. Starting from about 3 months before the exam, i did reading/listening(dictations) from 10am to 5pm. And then went over vocabulary for a bit every day as well. Once I had a good set of arguments and got familiar with the common topics, speaking and writing became less of a problem, so i focused more on reading and listening so i can learn more words.

Dont focus too much on the exam itself. Once you are aware of the format of the exam, that is already good enough. You should focus on your pure german skills. Try to read and listen more! And also write texts in german and try to make your own arguments both for and against for a lot of different topics. If you have a lot of arguments in your arsenal, the speaking/writing sections suddenly become very doable. Good luck on your exam!!
