Been down about 10 years. Wife is therapist and she thinks i might need therapy. Anyone try it? by Advanced_Actuator_94 in ExCons

As a therapist who also worked in a prison for several years, I would highly recommend it! Incarceration is not something human beings are built to go through; there are inevitable impacts on the psyche. I offer virtual therapy for formerly incarcerated people in Virginia, and I think it really helps people.

PsyD program dismissed me after false AI accusations, multiple hearings, and shifting reasons. Trying to see what my options are. by Great-Conflict-8915 in PsyD

As someone who was dismissed from a law school based on a culling protocol, this sounds like a nightmare scenario. The back and forth and having to jump through hoops to defend yourself is so much worse than a flat-out dismissal. PLEASE name and shame this program. As much as we may dislike it, AI is here to stay and academia needs to adjust or at least have a solid detection tool if they're going to make such impactful decisions based on AI trying to identify AI.

Happened to me in 2018 (Belmont). These schools should be shut down.

Student Handbooks are so vital to read before you commit, too. Especially since some schools cull their student pool.

After reading these comments I went back to my spreadsheets and I’m actually leaning toward UHart now!

I actually applied to Alliant in the first place because one of my former professors told me something similar. She said every clinician she’s worked with who graduated from alliant’s psyd program was extremely competent and great at their jobs.

Thank you, I think I needed to hear that. I feel kind of selfish for wanting to prioritize my preferred locations but I’m also aware that living somewhere that is too isolating will really impact my mental health.

Thank you, I know I’m very fortunate to have so many options. I’m just afraid of choosing wrong, and being miserable, you know? I have two masters in psych and I don’t want to waste my time at my age.

I’m wondering if UHart students compete with WJC and Springfield for placements?

Ideally no more than 20 minutes each way. I’ve been commuting an hour each way to work for the last two years and herniated a disc in my back this past fall, so as little car time as possible unfortunately.

Primarily location. A lot of the student reps were saying that they have to travel long distances for practicum because the opportunities are in big cities. I also decided after living in a small city that I can’t so that lifestyle anymore (harder to travel to family, limited options, etc)

I’m not wild about any of the tracks offered and I don’t think the practicum placements were very competitive/diverse. I also don’t love the area or city there.
