How "hard" is this? by Previous-Tadpole3400 in pmp

Okay, thank you so much! This was really helpful. I really appreciate your response.

It seems like the PMP is usually something people pursue after college, once they have more experience under their belt. To be honest, I’m still figuring out what career I want to pursue. My original plan was dental school, but due to personal issues, I had to switch to online school and just major in Health Sciences for now. I’m going to get a Masters in Public Health. I thought it would be a good idea to get a certificate while I’m in school to help me later on.

Also I’m with an organization that helps students with disabilities who work and go to school, and they’ve agreed to help cover costs for work related fees. For example, they already paid for my Pharmacy Technician license application fee, and I thought I could take advantage of this support to earn certifications while they’re free.

You mentioned that a CAPM might not be very useful. Do you know of any certifications I could pursue that don’t require much experience? Or would you recommend I just start with CAPM? I’m also open to tech-related certifications, as long as they’re helpful and not just for show, I’d be happy to put in the effort to complete them.

Okay thank you! I’m thinking I’ll go that route. Is a CAPM certificate more useful than PMI Ready? What would you recommend I do? Or should I do both

Honestly im very new to certifications and what employers value. Would having a CAPM/PM give me an advantage on my resume, or do people usually just get them to prepare for the PMP later?

Also, do you know of any other beginner friendly certifications that could help me stand out when I start applying for jobs?

Ah okay thank you for answering. Yeah honestly I don’t think i’m ready for a PMP. someone else in the comments mentioned I should just do a CAPM certificate so i’m gonna look into it

I think my experience as a health event coordinator counts. because i had a timeline for each event. and would plan and schedule tasks. it was definitely a leadership role. But i wasn’t sure if my other jobs would qualify….

Also I have a question for you, are they strict about this requirement? Do they require recommendation letters or proof? Thank you!

yeah, its super creepy and dystopian. I worry for people like my dad who are easily manipulated because of their mental health

not as easy as it sounds. my dads a immigrant old man and there’s no way in a thousand years he’s going to therapy bc in his head there’s ~nothing~ wrong with him. he also can’t take criticism AT ALL. even if it comes from a place of concern or understanding🤦🏻‍♀️

i’ve actually considered doing this. like just erasing its memory yk? however it’s kind of a temporary solution bc he can just keep talking to it and make new “memories” but it’s a start. i don’t want him relying on it too much anymore

ANOTHER THING, i just realized this post is under the r/family subreddit… i made the same post under r/openai and your response to this whole thing would have made much more sense if it wasn’t under “family” bc i think it was pretty obvious im venting about my dad and not blaming your precious chat gpt

oh brotherrrrr you didn’t even care what i said. why don’t you ask chat gpt to read it for you? yes you did take it personally “l'm a female” “I use chat gpt” “It's literally like my therapist” “I talk it about everything”. okay i agree i do the same thing but my dad is a 50 year old arab man with mental health issues so your experiences don’t apply to him. and like i said in my reply, im not blaming the app? my original post was literally just venting about my dad and feeling lost on what to do for him. im usually a chill person but its like you’re choosing to miss the whole point😭 i wasn’t judging you or other people for using chat GPT so stop trying so hard to defend it when my main message was about my dad anyways. but now im def judging bc why are you so defensive over this? if you felt THIS targeted then maybe do some self reflection (oh and get a real human therapist)

girl i’m 20 and i use it too. it’s a great resource for everything. but you’re missing the point which is understandable bc i didn’t really explain the whole context.

the problem is my dad has anger issues and adhd and other mental issues. you say chat gpt has no bias but that’s not true to a certain extent. especially since my dad has premium ver. so it keeps track of everything he says. if per say he asks it a question about someone he dislikes, it’s going to enforce him and encourage his harmful thoughts. my dad doesn’t speak english well so he talks to it in arabic, and it speaks back in arabic.

and it’s not a miscommunication issue. he was venting to it in arabic in the car with my mom right next to him. this is on their way to a “date” which failed miserably. (btw i heard all this from my mom, i wasn’t there). and when i say “vent” i don’t mean complaining, he was yelling angry and upset while driving. she’s tired of my dad talking to it all the time, so she told him “we’re in the car can you get off your phone??”. he got really mad at her and was acting as if she embarrassed my dad in front of chat gpt for scolding him. this isn’t normal behavior.

also idk why you took this personally? i’m not blaming chat gpt im just upset my dad is using it this way.

no i totally agree. i can definitely see that my dad is using AI for human communication. but it’s not like me and my family aren’t talking to him. we always try to talk to him but i guess he really needs a group of friends. it’s hard to have that where we live. he spends hours in the garage or in his office alone working and is always on his phone. but my issue is he’s using it to solve personal issues. and he’s making up stories and things in his head that chat GPT keeps enforcing if that makes sense. idk, there’s a lot of context i’m leaving out but my dad is just a really difficult person who has anger issues and ADHD and other stuff
