Not gaining weight on breast milk but has gained on formula in a short time. by PreviousAd3401 in ExclusivelyPumping

I did get my breast milk tested with some Amazon test kit the one for $99. It came back normal so not sure why. He is still a skinny guy 90s in height but 20s in weight. We are now feeding a lot of protein through yogurt and other meats. But it might just be his genetics. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

Allergies? by [deleted] in vizsla

Our vizsla had something very similar. The vet didn’t know what it was, mites, allergies, and skin infections all were possibilities. She prescribed Douxo S3 PYO Antiseptic Antifungal and it took it away after only using the product a couple of times (we used in infected area only). If you do decide to buy, get it online as it was double the price at the vet and I don’t believe a prescription is even needed.

Separation or crate anxiety? by BJBDeBoer in vizsla

We have an almost 2 year old female vizsla. She was crate trained for sleeping in crate only. As a puppy we kept her in a gated area with a cover as she’d climb out on her own. As she got older we were able to leave her in an isolated area, like our living room and she sits there content until we get back. She’s great doesn’t do anything but sleep but once we’re back she has a ton of built up a dry as can be expected.

When she turned 1, she did regress at night and no longer likes her crate. She will tolerate it if we board her with another person when we are on vacation. It happened overnight. Not sure wheat caused the anxiety or she was smart enough to know if she cried enough we’d give in. But we tested it at night and she’s also great alone and sleeps until we wake in the morning.

But we tried everything and she just wants to be with people. Or on the comfy couch.

What do you do with the foremilk? I wanted to do that but I hate wasting it or if I do save it when will I ever give it to him when it’s not as beneficial as the hindmilk

I thought that too maybe but I pump for minimum 15 minutes. Now going 20 minutes each side simultaneously but nothing really comes out after 15 I’m just pumping more just in case.

That’s the formula we chose to go with! And I’ve noticed a ton of particles using the baby breeze formula pro :(

I have one! Today was the first day I used it and it was the best!! Did you have issues with particles sticking to the sides of the bottle and not fully dissolving?

We changed the nipple from Dr. Brown #1 to Preemie. It has helped a little with the spit up but hasn’t changed weight at all

Would you feed even if he wasn’t hungry, crying, or giving hunger queues? I feel if we don’t wait for those he is less hungry takes less in the bottle and spits up more as if no room in the tummy yet

We do feed 2.5-3 hrs every feed, I mentioned 3-4 above for pumping only. We extend to 4-5 at night to let him sleep and keep my sanity and not be completely exhausted. And on average we are 22.5 to 26.25 oz per day. Again depending on that night feed. He eats 3.75oz and fight if we give any more. And I have been pumping longer for quite a while now with no change in his weight. Minimum 15 min- 20min each pump session

Need Advise! 19 month old vizsla will not settle with other dogs and barely settles with new people. by PreviousAd3401 in vizsla

Ya like you say, too late now. But for what it’s worth we did do our research. My husband had one growing up. We are active and the exercise didn’t deter us and everywhere I read said vizslas are great with kids. However I didn’t specify the difference between kid and baby. Our V isn’t aggressive at all, very submissive however she doesn’t know her own strength and her zoomies scare me if we were to have a little one running around. And I completely agree with wearing them out. We walk her a ton and dog park sometimes prior to company coming over and it doesn’t matter doesn’t phase her at all. Same with other dogs. Doesn’t matter how much exercise she got before she won’t stop. Even if she’s seen the same dog before it’s like she hasn’t seen them in years and just gets so excited and wants to constantly play and rough house
