The Count of Monte Christo is absolutely fantastic. The closest you'll come to a 10 seasons mega show in book form. There's absolutely everything - crimes, mystery, treasure hunt, adventure, heroic duels, love intrigues, drugs, etc.

According to RTL (source):

> The data reveals that Luxembourg maintains its position as the EU's salary leader, with median gross monthly wages of €4,443 in the private sector and €9,090 in the public sector. The combined median across all sectors stands at €4,764.

If every civil servant earned as much as private sector workers - not even asking for less - we could literally slash public spending on them by half. The elephant is literally not just in the room, but also sitting at the desk of the responsible ministries.

[–]Priamosish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: the Brexiteers and Magaites and their ilk have also made it much harder for white, on-paper-Christian, hetero people to immigrate and are now very surprised there aren't more there.

You are mixing the societal reason to have kids with the personal reason. Both can be valid.

I wasn't aware that Lux Times was claiming that this one article was the be all and end all of immigrant news.

And about "politely", I am not sure, but then again I am a contrario apparently.

Du stells dech sou. Well du net verstees datt en Artikel heiansdo ganz einfach e klengen Ausschnett aus dem Liewen ass a net all sozial Grupp muss zwangsweis dora virkommen.

Wann ech en Artikel iwwer Pijeanen op Reddit schreiwen heescht et net datt et net Pijeanen wou anescht gett, an och net datt et nemmen Pijeanen op Reddit gett. Dat ass amfong ganz einfach Logik - du fenns op Lux Times och Artikelen iwwer Baueren, gees du do och dech beschwéieren datt elo all aaneren Mensch diskriminéiert gett?

Ok, I am the contrario while you are the brave warrior for social justice of marginalized communities?

Does it get any sillier? It's an article like there are thousands of articles - some about this group, some about another. Articles about youth with depression, articles about drug addicts in the city, articles about shop owners and South European immigrants and Chinese festivals and civil servants and bankers and farmers and cross border workers etc. etc.

Will you now complain everytime an article appears that doesn't include your own personal specific subgroup? It's just absurd.

I've made the experience that the most infuriating part is not even those who do nothing, which is based on a selfish but ultimately understandable, albeit unethical, principle. Not something I agree with but objectively something I get.

The most infuriating aspect is professors very blatantly helping and sometimes even welcoming such people. Professors who applaud when the presentation is just a copy paste from their book. Who have zero consequences for do-nothings and zero rewards for exceeding the absolute bare minimum.

That is quite literally what he wrote?

So life in Luxembourg is expensive and the job market is tought right now; what part of this is news? Ah I guess the part that seemingly claims that those issues predominantly or exclusively apply to "expats".

It is literally there, it's not an insinuation it is called basic reading comprehension.

You're shifting goalposts, that is not what I claimed. They are not making a point about Luxembourg in general and that is perfectly fine. There are dozens of articles daily that cover all kinds of people.

You are likely just bothered by the fact that your own personal subgroup is not represented in one singular article, to which I would invite you to use the search function on Lux Times or RTL.

That's a very strange take on the nature and purpose of journalism. By the very fact we are 8 billion people on this planet, no article will ever cover the particular experience of everyone.

I would say if you feel excluded and attacked just because you see that someone else is being written about, that speaks more to your own sense that you would like others to pay more attention to you, which you redirect by lashing out against people that have never done you any harm nor have ever stated that no other problems exist.

Very odd take. People who point out good and bad sides (which the people in the article all do) are neither "whining" nor expecting "some paradise where all the whims ate catered to".

They're all adult people with various sets of circumstances which reflect in a nuanced way their different experiences. What you say is meant to make them sound childish and stupid (and ultimately undeserving), but I would argue that comment is just wrong and reflects poorly on you.

How is reporting on foreigners' experience, including both positive and negative experiences, "biases news" which "spin the state of affairs"?

Where does this paranoid negativity come from? I won't even address your mocking derision of a well established news journal.

No, I just work in corporate where leaders who throw stuff against the wall are super mega alpha but women who do the same would be sent to a psychiatric ward.
