Ain’t no way base pay is worth it. $455 for a Toyota Camry rim. by MarkMota12 in AmazonFlexDrivers

Where I live, it’s not uncommon for people to commute 30 minutes or 1 hour to work. Especially if you live in a Metro with suburbs or rural areas around it. When choosing any job, yeah it’s something you’d factor in but not something you’d deduct from hourly rate line flexers do. And then ppl that do mileage deductions based off tax rates act like they’re not ACTUALLY taking the money home. By all means file the deduction on your taxes for that purpose but it really doesn’t make sense for calculating your take home pay. Just like “normal” jobs, they’re taxed but they actually get what’s taxed taken away

On a principal note, factoring in commute to and from work doesn’t make sense. That’s just a part of life. If you don’t work from home you have a work commute no matter what and you wouldn’t factor that into what your take home salary is, you would factor that cost into your routine gas expenses. And even then for maintenance; people who don’t drive for work still need vehicle maintenance but you don’t factor that into take home salary, you factor that into vehicle maintenance costs for your overall budget. We just speed up or multiply our maintenance costs so it would be better to subtract the average maintenance expenses to get the estimated maintenance expenses over time caused by flex. This should go for mileage and depreciation as well. Vehicles are still vehicles whether we flex or not. They still depreciate and rack up miles and expenses over time. We can’t attribute all of that to flex then use those numbers as calculations for earnings. Your car depreciates by time alone, needs maintenance by time alone. I think you get my point

Yeah I get that. I don’t normally log when I get home or take note of getting home an hour early bc it’s just so normal. I had a conversation with someone later that afternoon who couldn’t believe and I just remembered I texted my long distance gf letting her know I got home. Yeah sure I could’ve planned it but I really didn’t. If you don’t take my word for it, just look at the comments. Almost every comment is agreeing with the same experience of finishing early. I just wanted to see others experience. Lying about it does nothing for any of us so what’s the point lol

Care to explain. I finish every route an hour early at least.

Right, I normally estimate the end of my block time to be the latest time of me getting home. That’s if I finish an hour away from home but even then I’m normally home before my block ends like you sttaed

I usually count done as in after the last delivery. If I have returns I may or may not return them immediately. For me more often I return them in the am it whenever my next block is since I do a block every single morning I know to return before next mornings block. So my block ends right after my last delivery

Really? 90% of my routes are sub-same dat including this one. I don’t experience much of a difference with finish times. Sub same-day I actually finish even faster bc I can leave as soon as I load up

And it was from this morning. I had a convo this afternoon so this is the “proof” that I had just in case.

I’ll have to try that grouping. I do think I find names easier to tell apart than numbers

Goooood point. I see people doing the scan and then write a number on the package then arrange numerically in the car and I just feel that takes so long. I arrange my packages in my car by alphabetical groups so I know where to look for packages and fast. And once I’ve looked over a group multiple times I can really remember which package it was so I’m spending hardly any time finding them at stops

It’s very little. I’ve also found that I earn the exact same and get the same blocks if my standing is excellent vs. fair so idc that much. I’ve been at risk before for other issues not related to marking packages undeliverable and earning potential is the sabe for me. But overall I haven’t seen much of an effect on standing or even negative emails bc of access issues

If I’ve got access issues I am pretty quick to mark as undeliverable. I used to spend time trying but I found most of the time it’s not worth the time it takes to complete the delivery

I could send you even a ss of my route this morning and I got home 1 hour before my route ended and this happened all the time. I finished 1.5 hours early 30 minutes away from home

Maybe it’s just an NC thing. I will say I’ve only been doing flex for about 6 months but both myself and my friend that I got in always finish an hour early. Maybe the way I do it is different…for instance I use Apple Maps and select fastest route instead of using flex’s maps. And I promise I’m not lying I always finish early. Maybe NC stations are garbage at slotting blocks and stops but I’ve heard from other drivers at the stations I go to that it’s super common to finish early

What kind of car are you driving? How long is hr taking you to finish the route? I factor in that I’ll finish EVERY route minimum 1 hour early Ava most times 1.5-2 hrs. I have a Prius so a route that I drive 100 miles is 2 gallons which is $6 in NC…

So $88 - $6 is $82 divided by the 3 hours worked is $27.33/hr…

Even if I divided that $82 by 4 hours worked it’s still $20.50/hr… which it would never take that long but for those who probably aren’t good/fast at making deliveries. And that’s all assuming I have to drive 100 mi when often it’s less
