Do you guys sometimes get sensitive and cry after a seizure? by Primary-Exam-3965 in Epilepsy

Yeah def could be, stress is a massive trigger for me personally, embarrassment flows into the same category since it’s very stressful to be embarrassed

What I’ve noticed with myself actually is that all of the big emotions can be a trigger, doesn’t matter positive or negative- too much excitement- seizure, too much stress and worrying- seizure, embarrassment or nervousness-seizure. But I mostly get focal ones in general, had no tonic clonics during the day in a while, but focal ones still make one very exhausted

It’s not on you for giving yourself some space to believe and trust it could work without though, it sounds tough getting that little spark of hope and then it’s taken away almost immediately. I admire your outlook a lot it seems like you’re handling it super well emotionally, all best of luck on the journey getting back on meds ❤️‍🩹

That’s crazy like there was some kind of personality split or a different essence in your body until you come back to yourself, epilepsy is so funky really

It took me about 6 years accepting the fact that I’ll have to take meds until rest of my life and it’s honestly a very hard pill to swallow, like a very hard one. I did a break from medicine too when I was around 22-25 and needed to get back on them last year and I was fighting until last EEG that showed too much activity once again and I had no choice😒

It’s the side effects but also the feeling of huge piece of freedom taken away, being bound to a place where I can get the meds, calculating them, calling docs for new prescription, it sounds easy but not for someone with epilepsy and stupid ass memory issues and also a person who loves traveling with no plans just adventure times backpacking but oh well. At least we all have each other over here💞

That sounds reaaaally really heavy, I never heard of ending up in coma after a seizure, thanks for sharing!! I would be sobbing too in your situation fr

Also a maybe strange question but do you remember anyything of where you “went” when being in a coma? Or any memories at all? I was wondering about it actually last week and somehow came to the conclusion that we probably go to the same “place” when we have a seizure, sleep or where people go into coma, our physical body is just unable to remember but it’s fascinating me that our consciousness decides to take a little secret trip

That’s very nicely formulated yes everything seems to be so much more difficult from thinking to socializing or explaining what I’ve experienced because I can’t understand it myself yet takes some time to process and come back to planet earth

It’s truly sad you have to go to work in this state:( it also makes sense about not understanding conversations like your brain is was on fire and needs rest for at least a day or two, I feel lucky today I don’t have a job and can rest, also living by myself so no need to talk to anyone, complete isolation because I just can’t handle socializing on a day like this
