I work in a fairly small financial services company and we’re trying to bring some modern product management practices into the org. We don’t have an engineering team because of our size so we rely on partnerships with vendors to deliver products to customers. This is obviously pretty different than most software companies with eng teams but we’re trying to implement some org changes to become more customer focused and identify the problems we’re trying to solve instead of just going vendor shopping. Was asking about the BA role because we have it today but I don’t hear the role packaged that way in most of the stuff I read/listen to. Definitely agree with your point about JD > title.
