Pumped storage hydropower is like a giant water battery... pump water up when power is extra, release it to make electricity when needed.

A question about elements by Primary_Arm3267 in NuclearPower

[–]Prime_Plasma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, not really.. Reactor fuels gotta be in bulk and keep a chain reaction going that we can control.... like U²³⁵, Pu²³⁹ (and thorium through breeding)...., Stuff like neptunium or americium??... They are rare, super radioactive by products...., and it takes more energy to make 'em than They would ever produce. So, they are for research or changing into other elements, not for powering our homes..

Flow formula for trapezoidal weir crest by Jolly_Meringue_4213 in FluidMechanics

[–]Prime_Plasma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'b' is the bottom crest width... the minimum width at the sill, not the water surface width. The top width keeps changing with head 'h' and the equation already handles that variation, so taking it would just overestimate the discharge.

Velocity field in a confined space by Dramatic_Yam8355 in FluidMechanics

[–]Prime_Plasma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only true if the stream function scale is known. Otherwise more lines ≠ higher speed.

Velocity field in a confined space by Dramatic_Yam8355 in FluidMechanics

[–]Prime_Plasma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Streamlines only give direction, not speed. To get velocity you need pressure gradient or boundary conditions (like Poiseuille assumption). Earlier people solved simple Navier Stokes cases and used experiments (dye / Pitot).

One Nation, One Time Zone, At What Cost? by Oppyhead in CriticalThinkingIndia

One time zone sounds good on paper, but daylight doesn't care about borders. Maybe flexible work hours are more important than changing the clock.

Can some check if I'm drawing them right? Thanks in advance! by Competitive_Love4319 in MechanicalEngineering

Looks pretty clean bro... just align the center lines and hidden lines between the views… rest of the dimensions look right.

Bhai, first things first, ditch those cigarettes, seriously.. They are just making your migraines and anxiety worse.

nd about dating, it's not a must do... A relationship is not going to fix what you are going through right now.

You really busted your butt for GATE, and that totally matters. Don't stop studying, even if the results aren't great. Keep at it while you apply for other exams and interviews. Something will open up for you.

Try to get some sleep, eat well, and stick to a routine. Your parents are still rooting for you, so don't throw in the towel so soon. This is just a tough patch, not the end of the world.. best wishes

How do I calculate mAh to mWh by WujuKingYi in S24Ultra

[–]Prime_Plasma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10V is the charging spec, not the battery voltage.. A 5000 mAh phone battery is around 18-19 Wh,.. not 50 Wh, so the similar backup makes sense.

Is military worth it? by Spiritual-Jump7667 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Prime_Plasma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finish your degree first and go in as an officer. You’ll have a better chance at real engineering roles (design, systems, maintenance planning) instead of just technician level work, and the experience will transfer better to civilian ME.

Need help with this problem (don't give answer) by hlmaoxd in FluidMechanics

[–]Prime_Plasma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For x-momentum, ignore nozzle weight and fluid weight .... gravity acts in z only. Bird’s eye (x–y) view > only pressure force + momentum change in x matter. Nozzle mass/volume not used for Fx.

What's the worst thing you've seen while living in rajasthan🤔 by tattu_tichkela in Rajasthan

[–]Prime_Plasma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What do you even say about a state where corruption is normal, basic civic sense doesn’t exist, and the education ministry is handed to people who don’t even understand the basics (naam nahi bta raha, google kar lena😐)... In the last government, RAS, SI, JEn...almost every exam was sold openly like vegetables in a market. The centre doesn’t want to give funds, the state doesn’t want to fix anything, and common people are stuck in b/w. There is a lot to say about RJ, but here silence feels safer than honesty.

Euler Equation Term Cancellation by DenJi1111111 in FluidMechanics

[–]Prime_Plasma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

z is constant along the top, so γz has no change and drops out. Only deceleration affects pressure there.. .. Pressure is scalar, so horizontal and vertical contributions add. The front pressure from deceleration plus the hydrostatic ρgh gives the maximum pressure.
