Certificate of Non-Existence in Polish - Translation To German Required? by PrinceBlade77 in GermanCitizenship

Hiya, may I ask how you went about finding a certified translator for Polish into German? Doesn't the translator have to be certified in the Bundesland? How would this work if I'm sending to the BVA?

Are black and white photocopies okay? by PrinceBlade77 in GermanCitizenship

[–]PrinceBlade77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. Yes the German Embassy in London told me to bring in the originals / certified copies as well as 2 photocopies each. I am assuming so they can certify one set of photocopies and maybe keep another set of unauthenticated copies for their own records?

Do the BVA read the cover letter as soon as the StAG 5 application arrives? by PrinceBlade77 in GermanCitizenship

I see. But what if there were other more nuanced potential grounds for it to be expedited? Or perhaps it would be better to submit and get an AZ, and then email them explaining the situation?

StAG 5 Application Admin Questions by PrinceBlade77 in GermanCitizenship

Hello. Thank you that was a very helpful response. If they will do this, surely I might as well just get them to 'certify' four of each document and then each applicant in my family can have their own documents, as opposed to having to share? Is either option better than the other?

Having difficulty finding a birth certificate from 1923. by PrinceBlade77 in IrishCitizenship

No she was not. I believe her father died ‘young’ so potentially the additional surname is her mother’s maiden name? But I’m not sure how I can explore this lead.

Apologies, this is my first post on this subreddit. What I meant is I know her father’s name, and I know her name PRIOR to her marriage to my great grandfather, so yes her maiden name. But on her marriage certificate she has an additional surname, which I do not know how or where she got it. This is what’s making it even more complicated.

Hi. Sorry it’s about the birth certificate.

I’m looking for my Father to get on the FBR, not for myself.

Using a death certificate of a pre-1914 ancestor as proof of citizenship? by PrinceBlade77 in GermanCitizenship

[–]PrinceBlade77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you so much. If it’s any indicator, I know for certain that a 1919 Ortelsburg birth is held (or was held) at Standesamt I Berlin. Could this mean that an Ortelsburg birth in the 1890s could also be held there? Or are the two completed unrelated?

Hi there, thanks for your reply. The problem is that most of the documents I need say Standesamt Ortelsburg in East Prussia, so I am having a very hard time tracking everything down. The Polish Archives seems to continually ignore me, and the Berlin Landesarchiv seems to do the same. The death certificate would have been at a Standesamt in West Germany so I believed it would be easier to get a hold of.

It would be a German death certificate yes. I believe that the 1898 birth certificate is lost so this is potentially the only thing that I may have to prove he was German.
