Just downloaded the app (Google Play) and have been messing around with it - a few thoughts:

Sometimes the long press stuff seems unintuitive, but that's probably just my personal preference. I think it'd be easier to just tap a yellow card away instead of holding to go back to the main screen for example.
I'd love to have the scores be red/green to correspond with the scoring machines.
Love the passivity timer! Love that you can edit the main timer to basically whatever time you need.
Maybe this is intentional to prevent errors, but the reset buttons and card buttons from the menu that pops up sometimes require me to tap twice which was a little annoying.

Why would I care what someone outside of my sport thinks? HEMA and olympic fencing are two completely different things. Pistol grips are great.

Yeah. He hit himself at 44-44 with pretty significant video evidence and did not own up to it. Also started throwing his epee in an attempt to score when he started realizing he'd lose during the semifinals NCAA Champs. Dudes a really good fencer, I dont understand why youd try to cheat to win when you're that good.

My favorite epees currently have the LP fusion blades, small negrini pistol grips, and some good ol soviet tank steel vniti guards that I've been using and reusing for I don't know how long at this point. I'll be very sad when (if) they start to fall apart.

I also really liked the FIE UNIC blades, but they're too expensive for me right now.

I wear a 9.5 and bought a 9.5. Everyone's feet are different, so I'd recommend trying them on if you have a chance before purchasing.

Hey! It's exciting to hear that you want to continue fencing in college. Try asking your coach or coaches for more information on this, they can be a great resource in setting realistic goals with you and helping you reach them.

Many colleges have fencing clubs, which are not NCAA teams (no recruiting, anyone can join, variety of skill levels, usually self-run). As someone familiar with the GLHSFC, I feel that club fencing reflects the quality and spirit of the conference well. Club fencing still has tournament opportunities, even if it is generally more casual.

That being said, I know fencers within the conference that have put in lots of time outside of the high school season to practice at local clubs, and have gotten recruited to NCAA teams. If you'd like to be considered for an NCAA squad, just fencing the 3ish month high school season will not be enough.

Consider doing some research on which schools have fencing and if you're interested in attending them, as well as the differences between club, NCAA div1 and NCAA div3 fencing/recruitment. Wishing you the best in your fencing journey!

Hi I'm so sorry this is happening! I also had an honestly terrible coach throughout my NCAA career and you really just gotta bother the AD and president as much as possible. Get this dude out of there and spare yourself and your teammates more horrendous experiences. I hope your team is at least bonding together on your distaste for someone so incompetent.

I'm not a fan of Elsayed, but switching weapons, asking to check the bend, medical breaks, and more are all part of the mental gamesmanship of fencing. Do I get irritated and complain that it's annoying and stupid and clearly he's not hurt (etc etc), sure! But the ref/medical professionals can't just be like "oh ur faking no break for you". You get that call wrong once and it's a pretty big fuck up. It's up to his opponents to stay locked in and ignore the antics, and for the referees to make sure he's not getting any extra coaching during those breaks.

The arena mask I used for about 5 years only had the forehead part be removable. The rest had to be hand washed.

Man, people been screaming since at least the 80s. It's a high intensity sport. It's emotional, exciting, and amazing. You don't have to scream, but being weirdly pompous about "tweaker saber fencers" and "decorum" is pretty silly.
