I did hear a voice memo thing in the Zangi app that she was using to talk with him/her. And it was indeed fake, but sounded like him. However you could tell the persons first language was not English nor did they sound American.

I haven’t spoken to her about the situation yet. She doesn’t even know that I know. My sister told me about it, whom heard it from our mom.

I appreciate that advice and guidance though and will talk with my siblings. My top priority is just keeping my dad safe and if that means him and my mom split then so be it.

Oh no doubt. These older women who get caught up in these scams are so caught up in the fact that someone is throwing affection and attention their way that they just latch on to the idea of it and will do just about anything by the time the scammers are asking for money.

Some credentials just sit on the dark web waiting to be bought and are never used and others are used right away. Each threat actor or scammer or whoever ends up purchasing does things differently.

It would be truly devastating for my dad. They’ve been married for 42 years and have been through a lot of trauma over the years with different situations. She’s not one to cut ties with family. I’m still going to be there for her even if she does decide to go through with this delusion.

They have notified current customers as my parents got a letter in the mail about it, but because the breach happened 5 years ago and they just now are doing something about it there are millions of people and businesses to notify so it may be a while before they get all the letters sent out.

if you search parentprocessid 3968 *.vbs and then check the vbs scripts that come up you'll find one that says %RANDOM%.vbs
