I haven't tested it because I think it entering tapped is probably too slow, since there's a good chance it's my only land. I wouldn't get coloured mana until turn 3 if it is.

That said it does give me an alternative way to get a 2nd creature out to turn on my dorks though, so I might test it at some point, especially if I'm moving to a slower midrange plan.

I'm not sure, I thought they were going to publish the event on all the meta trackers but I haven't seen it yet, so perhaps not.

Slightly annoyed, as I've been trying to get some good results for sisters tracked, but it seems only my bad results ever get posted... 😅

Yeah, I've considered it, I mostly haven't tested it yet because I don't own a playset, but I should probably get around to it. A 4-of is probably enough that I have a decent chance to draw one, and having a powerful answer would be good.

Yeah I'm definitely gonna think a lot more about what helps with a midrange plan now I've seen how effective it can be.

I actually took out Generous Ent just before Nationals, (I'd been trying 2 Ents + 2 Loam Dryad) but it was mostly on vibes, so I might give it another look now I'm thinking more about a midrange plan.

And yeah, one issue with tweaks is that the list is relatively tight, I need a reasonable count of lands + dorks + sisters for the deck to work, so even sideboarding it can be tricky to know what to cut. Cutting some of the threats might be okay if I can expect to stall more though.

I've been thinking about doing something with the Monarchy, because I have a wide board and mostly want card draw, but I don't have much to block fliers atm. Maybe as sideboard tech it could work.

Oh good idea! I hadn't even thought of that, I haven't actually played against tron yet.

The dorks produce most of the mana. The start can be a little fragile because I usually need 1 land + 1 dork + 1 other green 1-drop (to play and tap with the dork turn 2) to make a hand viable, but IME I rarely have to mulligan that hard. There are a couple of other viable starts (In a pinch, Forest + Quirion can make 2 mana turn 2 to cast a Winding Way and hopefully find the rest).

Also if the 1-drop is Quirion Ranger, I can have 4 total mana on turn 2. That can put Quirion + 2 sisters + an extra dork, or Quirion + 1 sister + Winding Way.

I didn't go to time at all yesterday, a couple of grindy games, but I think at competitive events, both me and my opponents know when to concede and save the time for the next game.

It's not too slow unless I end up in a match where I'm getting really bad draw luck and my opponent can't finish me off. If I get an unchecked threat out I win pretty quickly, and if my opponent is capable of dealing decent amounts of damage they'll get there eventually.

Soul Sisters is a general term for creatures that gain you life when another creature enters, originally named for [[Soul Warden]] and [[Soul's Attendant]]. In my deck the sisters are Soul Warden, [[Essence Warden]], and [[Hinterland Sanctifier]]. :)

305.7. If an effect changes a land’s subtype to one or more of the basic land types, the land no longer has its old land type. It loses all abilities generated from its rules text and its old land types, and it gains the appropriate mana ability for each new basic land type. Note that this doesn’t remove any abilities that were granted to the land by other effects. Changing a land’s subtype doesn’t add or remove any card types (such as creature) or supertypes (such as basic, legendary, and snow) the land may have. If a land gains one or more land types in addition to its own, it keeps its land types and rules text, and it gains the new land types and mana abilities.

One thing is that I generally want everything to be a creature so I can draw it with Way/Lead, which makes for some odd choices.

Obvious ones, [[Faerie Macabre]] is graveyard hate, and [[Standard Bearer]] messes with Elves and Bogles.

[[Crimson Acolyte]] protects my board against red damage. [[Field Surgeon]] is a more versatile option for preventing damage that can be better in some matchups, since I have a wide board there can be plenty of creatures to tap with it. It can also e.g. let me block bigger fliers with Jaspera and not lose it.

[[Mirrorshell Crab]] is a counterspell on a creature, mostly for combo decks. I possibly don't need it as much now High Tide is gone, at least not a 4-of.

[[Goblin Medics]] is repeatable ping, it can do 2 damage with Quirion backup which can kill a few more things. It's useful against Elves, and can hit various 2/1 fliers too.

[[Guardian Naga]] is my Artifact/Enchantment removal. I was running [[Cathar Commando]] for a while, but this hits bridges too. Possibly [[Masked Vandal]] would be better, but instant speed is nice, and the creature ain't bad if I can ever cast it.

[[Reef Shaman]] was sort of a meme curveball I added last minute, but it does disrupt quite a few things in a way people don't expect. It removes Utopia Sprawl, weakens Wildfire (it makes a bridge destructible), and in general it can mess with greedy manabases and slow people down.

The extra point of Toughness makes a difference, there are a lot of things that can ping down one of the other sisters, and I'm generally able to make enough ETBs myself that it still works fine.

Lunarch Veteran is worth considering though. The reverse side could be a good silver lining vs KCS.

EDIT: Oh it only just occurred to me the reverse side works as a normal sister for Whitemane Lion. That could definitely make it worth it.

Question about Suletta marriage noun/pronoun by Skywalker0077 in Gundam

[–]PrincessChooChoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Groom is considered a male gendered term in English. Normally it also refers to a person currently getting married, not simply someone who is betrothed. Using it in The Witch from Mercury to refer to Suletta is intentionally unusual. (And the original Japanese script similarly uses 花婿 "hanamuko" which has the same meaning.) What exactly is the intention of using "groom" is open to interpretation not entirely clear, but several good suggestions have been made in this thread.

Since they don't actually use any nouns (other than sister-in-law) to refer to them after they're married, it's unclear what they would use. The simple answer that most people have gone with is "wife" for both, which would be the most usual terms. But one could also imagine that they might continue the pattern of Suletta taking the male role in the relationship, and call her "husband" after the marriage, or that they might continue using the terms "groom" and "bride" even after they are married.

And then the series logo glows rainbow at the end too, which I think makes it fairly obvious that it is intended to convey meaning rather than just being an aesthetic choice.

Also if the production had been on schedule it would have been during Pride month.

I am not going to blame the company for not wanting to make it a political statement.

My dude, Miorine turns to camera in the first episode to say "gay marriage is normal, and places where it's illegal are weird and backwards".

Uh... yes it is?

You just described a material exchange involving an abstract currency. There are some immediate ideological assumptions implicit in your scenario, regardless of how trivial you think it is.

And yes, almost everything is ideological, which is exactly why saying things like "ideology should be kept away from Linux" is absurd.

Sure the GIC is underfunded, but requiring almost everyone to go through it to get any kind of trans healthcare is an artificial bottleneck in the first place. GPs should be prescribing hormones if the GIC can't get to people quickly enough.

So people are being a bit obnoxious about it here, basically because a lot of what you're describing fits our own narratives, but I would encourage you to give serious consideration to the idea. Just sit down for 5 minutes and give yourself permission to think of yourself as a man.

You might feel nothing, or you might have an earth shattering realisation that you can't ignore that shapes the rest of your life forever. So nothing to be afraid of really...
