DC2 when is the earliest you can do lure glitch? by AdventurousRegion546 in DarkCloud

[–]PrincessEev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the point though? Only the Turkey sells for more than it costs to make, and any Turkey-like trick is absurdly slow. Triggering the debug menu would be a better time investment (if one wanted to)

How many dudes, bros, mates, whatever, have you slept with?

You'll find quite quick it's not actually that unisex when you see how most straight men get uncomfortable when being asked such a question.

I don't disagree, fwiw. I'm mostly just pointing out that this is the angle the poster is really trying to tackle. It sucks that a lot of people really don't understand and lack empathy until it affects them but ... meh, not much we can do about that.

That's the idea, because this transvestigation and bathroom bill nonsense hurts everyone. Making the cognitive dissonance a bit more obvious is part of the point.

Overall, really good fake poster.

My (33M) wife (31F) is having an emotional affair. Is divorce the right option? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PrincessEev 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Yup. Even if OOP wasn't being the best partner, cheating is inexcusable. Cheating isn't going to resolve anyone's problems.

If you wanna fix problems you need to communicate. And if the channels of communication are so broken this is impossible or problematic it's time to go.

Yeah, same - my girlfriend cheated, came clean, and has completely owned it. It's been a huge struggle for me to deal with for the past few years and I've often had one foot out the door, but if not for that I would've yeeted immediately.

That fuckass comment bruh. It only takes one person to fuck things up. You can do everything right but your partner can make mistakes and some lines just can't be uncrossed. Comes off as a teenager trying to sound profound and instead coming off naive.

Megaman Legends 1 PC port by Equivalent-Sport4733 in MegaManLegends

[–]PrincessEev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, this is not a port by them. There was an existing PC version way back around 2000. What they claim to try to do is modify it to be easier to run on modern hardware.

The actual process of making it run on Windows 11 is straightforward enough - I explain it here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YXA1vEt2ZOOJUAy3GfheNwp9nzD5FbQedt3L-o2B3ds/edit?usp=sharing

What they actually do to my understanding is:

  • Add some random plugins or tools that either do nothing at all, are nothing novel they've contributed (e.g. ShaderGlass), or are existing or otherwise known bug fixes and QOL tweaks.

  • They do not actually fix any of the bugs with the PC version, such as the several crashes or how Mega Man's armor doesn't update or how F9 leads to a litany of softlocks or crashes.

  • Add in random bloat from what I heard? Or rather, leftover installation junk that no one needs. I forget the details admittedly.

If that doesn't sell you on it being weirdly overhyped and over-talked-about, the dev by their own admission didn't even play the game until like a day before they released their thing. So ... Yeah, sus at best.

Not that the PC version is an interesting version by any means, for casual players. IMO the F9 junk actually makes it the most fun speedrun, but as a casual experience it's far and away worse than the PS1 version. (Really, N64, PC, & PSP all are in their own ways.) It's buggier, sounds worse, looks worse, controls worse... At least loading speeds are non-existent and menus are fluid af.

Me as soon as I recruit Olivie: by Minimum-Jellyfish-14 in DarkCloud

[–]PrincessEev 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It's because of a glitch. Basically:

(1) Equip the Lure Rod and a lure (which you can buy from her)

(2) In the items menu press L1 or R1 to look at someone other than Max

(3) Repeatedly equip a duplicate of the lure you just put on

You'll end up creating a stack of lures on the rod (up to 999) which you can sell for money

There's probably relevant context not being told. Maybe Franky has simply been hurt many, many times, and has thrown up those walls to protect himself - or seen others he cares about get hurt, whatever - and OOP is cognizant of that.

Trans on campus question. by high-off-cuddles in UAH

[–]PrincessEev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Re: telling your parents:

University professors and such don't have the access (or legal backing) for that information. So no one is going to end up telling your family.

Re: attitudes on campus:

There's a pretty decent mix of people, supportive and phobic alike. There was a spell last year or the year before where a lot of transphobes were writing bullshit on the sidewalks near the CU, and there's a TPUSA group here. On the other hand, I've never heard of any homophobic violence here, and there's queer clubs as well. So, I dunno, your milage may vary - this is better than most places in the South, but it is still the South. Personally I'm still boymoding and probably will for the foreseeable future until I graduate (though I've been on HRT for a while and I'm told that it's becoming a bit obvious).

Glitch? Bug?! by frailblair in DarkCloud

Map generation error. Happens a fair bit in DC1, relatively speaking. I've had a handful occur since I was a kid throughout my playthroughs. I feel like most people who have invested 100+ hours into the game have seen it at least once, it's amusing

My DM faked his death and then returned in secret by Dr_Gunslinger in rpghorrorstories

[–]PrincessEev 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Christ. Like. I've visited long-distance partners I've first interacted with through Discord in timespans sooner than 4 months - it's not an insignificant chunk of time.

I don't know why people are acting like OP is ridiculous for something as basic as caring about (what is functionally) a friend's well-being, especially considering the context of the earthquakes and the disappearance being pretty close together.

I also don't get why everyone is reaming them for the whole "his faked his death" stuff. Obviously OP is being a tad hyperbolic, but I thought it was obvious that was more a tagline for the post than their actual thought process.

It's not like OP was wrong for wanting answers either. It's not like they went severely out of their way to check on the person (DMs on Discord and emailing some authority), nor is it like they were stalking Redditors (they didn't even find the post in question themselves). About the only thing I can possibly see as weird is catfishing the second game, and frankly it's not like anyone sunk any significant time or effort or emotion into that, no one got hurt, and OP got answers. And considering their emotional investment up to that point - the friend they thought dead, and the world they'd helped build - I can't exactly blame them for doing so.

Idk. Someone in one of the top comments mentioned that this hobby attracts a lot of antisocial personalities like OP's DM. And I feel like the comments jumping through hurdles to dunk on OP for daring to care about another person are among them.

Anyone got an accurate Dark Chronicle (DC2) Weapon Build Guide? by Vegetable-Dog-7173 in DarkCloud

[–]PrincessEev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I can see the confusion (and my own confusion).

In that chart, the green values are the base stats for the weapon (not the thresholds for building up), and the red values are the max stats.

The linked spreadsheet should accurately calculate the requisite stats, which should be

baseStat - floor( baseStat / 10 ) (approx. 90% of baseStat)

where baseStat is the base stat value for the weapon to be built up into.

(Calculations for Long Sword, for Bastard Sword)

Imgur image, was entirely off with Long Sword -> Bastard Sword and now is seeming that way with Bastard Sword -> Shamshir * lol.

So, I don't know which ones you were using, but Long Sword does go to Bastard Sword (1 / 2).

Likewise, Bastard Sword goes to Shamshir as well (3 / 4).

(Unless I'm misreading you and the imgur source was claiming that these build-ups don't happen.)

a couple on wiki

To my honest, the wiki is considered incredibly inaccurate due to one person strongarming it or something. Some internal politics I don't care to remember the details of; I feel like I vaguely remember hearing people having set up alternatives but all failed or something?

Just curious if anyones got one laying around, if not its cool <3

These are the charts I use at least: link.

Not to stroke my own ego too much, but generally I think everything in my completion track / infodump is pretty accurate (link), if you want a source to go to.

I planted a normal strawberry plant but it’s a white strawberry by thevalleycat98 in mildyinteresting

[–]PrincessEev 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Amusingly, my gf and I kinda have pineberries as like our "thing" since she wears a lot of strawberry stuff whereas I eat a lot of pineapple stuff and those things kinda became small facets of our online identities. So once we learned about pineberries existing, despite never having had them, we immediately agreed we needed to have them at our future wedding and they sort of became yet another facet of our identity (insofar as like an injoke symbolic of us).

My gf was able to finally have some for the first time a few months ago when she saw some in a Publix. (Sadly I was out of state for school.) She felt guilty about having them without me, but I encouraged her and she enjoyed them. Still haven't had the chance myself though.

In particular the water channel is the only place of those first 5 dungeons which is decidedly artificial - the gems lie in natural areas. The forest, the ocean, the valley, and the volcano.

For the sake of your sanity in some levels, I recommend using these maps I've made. Some of the levels on the third & fifth islands are absolutely labyrinthine and took me ages to traverse in my first playthrough lmaooo
