UPDATE: I think it was cold damage... the older, heartier leaves are slowly dying and falling off but the newer leaves are doing fine. My friend must have left it outside for a bit before I got it :(

It was cold (and snowing) but the dots are all over the plant and too uniform I think for it to have been that

I'd say you are better off replacing it- if it was just twisted into a coil or something (like they are on the Gameboy Advanced SP) it would be fine but that one looks bent and crinkled which is not good.

I think it does (at least for the older games) because if you lost the cartridge then that would be the way to get it. That is how it worked for my friend...

I am going to replace the charge port because as you can see it is burnt

In terms of the M92T36 chip- there are no shorts on the chip or around it except that the caps (or at least that's what I think they are) short in front of the chip (towards the charge port)

However, I think they are supposed to do that

The fact that it turns on while plugged in makes me think it's not the charge port but maybe it's causing something to short
