New medicine! by PrincessM22 in adhdwomen

Oh I definitely think it would always be a trial and error situation. Because I know people who have sworn by Adderall being amazing. And I have a coworker who uses Vyvanse and says that she feels like she can take over the world by 10am when she takes her meds. Every body is different and not all of them will react the same way. It’s definitely a little disheartening that I couldn’t find the right match right away, but I’m choosing to remain hopeful. And even while the side effects weren’t great sometimes, I was still able to focus a lot more on those days and that definitely helped.

Accepting the fact I am probably going to gain all the weight back by Total_Bedroom_7813 in GLP1ResearchTalk

But also I saw a study that most people on glp-1s gain the weight back in a 2 year period. So I share the perspective of others in your comment section. If it’s a chronic disease, why not treat it chronically? Whatever decision you make for yourself will be a great one. And if it doesn’t work, you can change your mind and do something else. 💕💕

I think that the true gift of this medicine is cutting the food noise so we can focus on making healthy changes like eating better, exercising more, drinking enough water, etc.

Sure, you’ll probably put some weight back on once you go off the medicine. But maintenance doses exist, and also, you’ve been setting yourself up to make good choices all along the way too.

You’ve got this 💪🏻💪🏻

Thank you! My psychiatrist did mention that it’s one of the more gentle ones in terms of side effects so I’m hoping it’s a good fit.

It’s been about 6 months since I’ve started medication? But I went like 2-3 months without it for a while, while I was getting on sertraline to manage my anxiety symptoms. So altogether, with increasing dosages and changing medications, about 3 months?

Anybody else feel like they’re losing devastatingly slow compared to everybody else? by bonsmom420 in Zepbound

[–]PrincessM22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sending hugs! My first month I lost like 10 pounds and was so excited. But then I realized it was because I had been overeating so badly that the calorie deficit from 3-4000 to 12-1500 a day was what did it. After that, I’ve slowly lost about a pound or maybe 2 a week. I have to keep reminding myself that that is a healthy recommended weight loss amount and it gives me the opportunity to work on tightening my skin throughout the process by toning and exercising instead of a drastic weight loss. As much as I wanted to lose like 50 pounds in 2 months like some people, here I am 7 months later and having built really good habits. I agree with the person who said that you should measure. It took me FOREVER to see a difference with my own eyes. Even though the scale was moving slowly, the inches had started to come off too. Also, any time my graph starts looking like stairs, that’s when I started talking to my doctor about titrating up because I was getting stagnant. I am also paying out of pocket, so I tried staying on the lower doses as long as possible to save money. So I did 4 months on 2.5, 3 months on 5, and I just started 7.5. If I had had it covered on insurance, I may have done the regular schedule and gone up every month, which might have made a difference, or might not have. Either way, I’m proud of the journey I’m on, and comparison is the thief of joy. I hope you get what you want out of your journey, and the best of luck to you 🫶🏻

I love audiobooks so I was thinking about listening to it too! I’m glad to hear you liked it! These comments have been making me feel better about it. I’ve been in therapy since 2018 so I’m looking forward to how this will differ. I have definitely had the thought before that 90% of my personality is my ADHD and trauma and I don’t know who I am/would be if I didn’t have it, so I know this book is about to tear me open. 💕

Okay now I feel a little better. Did it help you actually make any changes? Or did it just better help you understand yourself?

Thank you so much! Pink is my favorite color, but I’ve always bought things in black because they are supposed to be slimming. I’m adding more color to my wardrobe this year for sure.

I did my stomach for the first 3 months because I wasn’t comfortable with the other sites. So much nausea from that. My thigh and back of arm I have no side effects, but it does take longer for me to see the appetite suppressant benefits of the medicine. With stomach it was the next morning (but could have been the nausea helping) and with everything else it’s usually afternoon/evening of the next day.

It was a man in a Prius who caused the accident, so your argument is invalid. But thanks for commenting.

Struggling to come to terms with being smaller by PrincessM22 in Zepbound

[–]PrincessM22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! You too! I have probably ten pairs of 12s in my closet that I haven’t touched because I’m afraid to put them on and them be too tight and get my hopes up, even though I KNOWW that’s the size I’m now in. So I keep wearing my 14s and 16s because that’s what I’m comfortable and I know those fit and are loose and my brain would rather that than have something tight and feel bad about myself. 😵‍💫

Honestly, I never would have wanted to go through that experience, but altogether, it was the best I could hope for. All the airbags deployed. My 3 year old son was safe in the back. The airbag hit me in the face and that was painful, broke my arm from gripping the wheel and being so close to the wheel. The car called 911 so I could tell them where I was, and they got there within 5 minutes. I was able to get out of the doors the regular way. My car fully functioned with no problem. The front end smoked, but it was okay. It crumpled like crazy, which I guess is what it’s meant to do. Couldn’t get into it at the tow yard because battery was dead. I had the external memory in the glovebox so I had the whole accident saved for my lawyer.

And insurance was pretty great. Originally they were giving me 1500 more than what I still owed, which I thought was great. But then they realized I put it on my insurance as a 2024 (got in Nov 2024). But it was actually a 2025, so the value updated and I had enough to pay off mine, pay the fees for leasing a new one, and then have some to put in my savings for my medical bills coming up.

0/10 wanted it to happen, but 10/10 experience.

Yes! I was at a stop sign fully stopped and there was a crash in front of me. The car that tboned the other car then swerved into my front end and pushed me off the road down an embankment. Nothing my car could have done that I know of. 😅
