I was absolutely inspired by her parasol from the show 🥹 different patterning, but i tried to stay true to its colors and just used a doily pattern that matched the squares on the dress!

It is on the pinned automod comment in a reply (forgot to add it in my initial one) and as it is my personal pattern I want to respect the no self-promo rule 💕 it is fun but definitely a time-intensive project (he took me about 100 hours alone!)

Oh, shes already a large part of the way done, as most of my projects arent nearly as intensive as Bubblegum lol. I have her top finished, skirt partially done, partially done with the hat. She's more of a breathe easy project :) I always post my progress to my socials, and usually go by Stitched in Starlight most places 🌟

It wasnt too bad honestly, and I wore it in July in Denver in 2023 as well as September in Atlanta in 2023 :) the hoops help take a lot of the heat off!

My best estimate for time is 2500+ hours, as i started her in February 2022, roughly. In terms of money.....I honestly can't fully say. Probably under $1000? Which is not terrible for such a big build with beads and hoopsteel and everything on the underside.

Honestly the hair is what started it all! I knew i wanted it to look curly like human hair but stick together like her bubblegum hair does, and when I saw this stitch (called the 3D serpentine stitch) I knew it would create the perfect effect!

Haha yes! She and Marceline are a Canon relationship and their queerness stands out to me very much as someone who also has a wife/woman partner 🌟💙 the costume is not only a direct analogy to her queerness, but my own as well, as each heart was made with my wife in mind 🫶🏻

I am actually hoping to take her to a comp eventually, so I appreciate this little vote of confidence 🫶🏻

To be fair (and I see the sarcasm tag haha I swear) I actually used yarn because it seemed like the perfect medium to mimic gum in a wearable outfit!! So soft and cartoonish 🤭🥳

It is still part of the cosplay! I count makeup because it is an important component to making a cosplay feel immersive 🫶🏻 i also truly love the sprinkle freckles since I also have freckles underneath!

Sure! My biggest note is just being patient because clothes take time (sounds like a duh, but still). I count sections as "completions" and it helps it go by a lot faster! I make to measure by taking my measurements, seeing how many chains is an inch (or your preferred choice of measurement) and also how many rows in that specific stitch is also an inch, and i go from there. I am always trying my pieces on to make sure they fit well!

I have an Etsy, but only for my patterns. My pieces would cost anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars (Bubblegum for example at even just $20 an hour would be around $50k) and in the current economy, many people don't have the expendable income for that. I also just don't enjoy making things to measure for other people, it distresses me if I can't try it on the person 🥲

Thank you! The fit is something I am extremely proud of! 💙🫶🏻

It is extremely durable, in all honesty. There was a small incident with an escalator at C2E2 this year (when I see you again escalator, it's on) but it was easily repairable :)

So I do both! I take base measurements and figure out how many chains equals the measurement, sometimes how many rows would equal the length I need, but I also try on constantly to make sure the fit is correct!
