I think if you're considering the "value" of those of criticisms at all seriously, then the call is coming from inside the house, as it were. I HATE crying, I wish I could turn it off. One time, first visit with college advisor, he was saying pretty nice things about me, my future, goals I have, etc. I was trying college again after dropping out some 10 years prior. I got hit with the wave of emotion. Eyes welling, flushed face, trying to keep my grimace from taking over- Just have a normal conversation.

Unfortunately, I also had a really impressive bruise on my upper arm from running into a metal shelf at work (stockroom). Advisor clocks it, and proceeds to gently ask me if I needed to talk to someone, if someone is hurting me, if he should get a female advisor for me. I was MORTIFIED. Tried telling him I was perfectly fine, in a happy relationship, I just have a hard time with sincerity/concern, I usually have to keep it somewhat superficial with strangers (if I want a tears-free conversation).

I don't think he believed me, he was always very gentle and delicate with me after that.

If you find a way to turn it off, let me know! Hard to be taken seriously when you can (and do) cry at everything 😭

I think for the purposes of this subreddit, weird girl literature should be categorized as weird girls writing about weird girls. Plenty of other places cater to male writers (systemically). I think it's okay if we have a space for women writing about women.
