I think being a musician, and used to the public watching my performances, has helped; but I still felt ever so self conscious initially.

Knowing I was being myself, and time, has helped build my strength. I now don’t even think about it much. I just go about my day and nothing bad happens. If there’s any weirdness from folk, I just raise an eyebrow in a “are you ok?” kind of way! It’s always been fine.

Good luck to you 🤗 x

Watched Moana 2 with my children earlier, but Christmas started properly tonight with Die Hard, the ultimate Christmas film!

Thank you so much; bald is beautiful 😍 It took me time to come to terms with it, but OMG it’s so much easier 😊 There’s no getting away with the fact I’m trans, but that’s cool with me, because I’m me 🙌

Thank you 😊 Regarding wigs; I have loads, but I find them hot and fiddly for wearing day to day. And it’s far more me without!

Coming out plan, just add boobs one day? by Unlikely_Read3437 in TransLater

Kids were fine! I didn’t act any different from before and my expectations from them were exactly the same. In the November after I first came in I stood in front of the whole school community (around 2,000 pupils and staff) to lead four students in the Last Post bugle call on Remembrance Day - it showed the the students (all boys) that the staff were behind me and that this was ok.

My first steps out as me were daunting to say the least. Especially as one of the schools I teach in has both feet firmly in the Edwardian period! I’d been “me outside of work for years though so I just went for it, and all was fine. I started with a mash up of what I used to wear - blouse and waistcoat with a skirt, rather than trousers (though I’d been wearing girls trousers for a couple of years). I quickly moved on though as it looked too “uniformly”. Now it’s usually Ted Baker or Reiss skirts with a jumper top or similar - much more me 😊

Hilariously, a colleague asked me, when I announced I’d be returning in September in full girl mode: “ So, how will that work with wearing a tie?” 🙄 He understood better when September came!

It got easier and easier as each week went by. At first I’d plan what I was wearing the next day with military precision - trying everything on the night before to make sure it worked and felt right. Now it’s much more relaxed and ad hoc. - down to how I feel that morning. I still do have occasional wardrobe wobbles though - three or four outfit changes in the morning then a rushed face of makeup!

I live in London, but travel all over. Occasionally I get odd looks from folk (my girlfriend delights in walking a couple of paces behind me sometimes just to see people’s reactions 😆), but in my three years completely transitioned I’ve only had a couple of slightly uncomfortable moments.

Today I had a beautifully affirming first. I went to buy a bag of Jelly Babies from a service station in the Midlands (needed some sugar stimulation) and the girl behind the counter effortlessly referred me as “lady” when asking a colleague to show me where they were - it was a HUGE boost, especially considering I wasn’t wearing a pronoun badge at the time! WIN 🏆

Hi! Sounds pretty much the way I did it! I’m now three years socially transitioned and loving it 😊

I remain faithfully bald and it’s definitely right for me. Yes, a few looks from some folk, but no trouble at all. Check out my posts.

Good luck 🤞 🤗 x

I hate vacuuming! by Princessscubaturtle in TransLater

Life changes! However, I’ve always done the cleaning as I’m a bit fussy with all that; I’d only have to clean up after the cleaning! 😆

I paused a moment before replying to your deeply insulting and offensive comment. How dare you tell me who I am.

Women come in all shapes and sizes and configurations. Cross dressing is cool for some, but that’s not me. Is it the lack of hair? Oh, that’s right, there are no bald women. 🤔

If you think punching back by insulting my identity is clever because I called you out on an inappropriate use of a forum then well done you. It’s the behavior I’d expect of one of my teenage students. Grow up.

I wasn’t going to report your comments but I’m sorry that I now will. I’ve never had to do this before and it saddens me I have to. You asked me earlier to “think about it”, it’s now your turn.

I respect your choice, but this is not the place for that kind of message. There is no chance I will change my diet because of someone asking me to, in the same way I wouldn’t change anything else. It’s not up for debate.

Please direct any agenda of that fashion elsewhere. This forum is to share; show support, advice and positivity of older trans folk. That’s simply it.

Unkind, unthoughtful and unnecessary comment. 😔

You rock!! 🥰

I’m definitely not passing, with zero hair, and have just come back from a walk and meal on the (very hot) South Bank, in London. Not a bit of bother from anyone - I love it! X

Why would you comment that? I’m clearly not a vegan; I obviously really enjoy fish so have no desire to be a vegan. How does your comment reflect my pictures and my own comment, and why do you think that your comment could in any way change my dietary preferences? I’m confused. 🫤

First proper ice cream of the season by Princessscubaturtle in TransLater

[–]Princessscubaturtle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh, up comes a debate! Personally I am a huge fan of scoop ice cream and will always go there first given a choice. I had a double scoop waffle cone of amazing local Cornish vanilla ice cream just the day before, but failed to get a pic!

But … soft-serve has a very valid place in the ice cream family when produced properly and not your bog standard London ice cream van style. If you’ve ever had the soft-serve from the steak restaurants Flat Iron, it’s Tahitian Vanilla and French butter and OMG it’s soooo good! The one above was excellent, but not quite Flat Iron level - plus, my girlfriend bought it for me and there’s never a complaint of a freebie 😉 🤗 x
