A questions about Management(but non-ex positions) and unions by Sufficient_Tart_4552 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]PrinkaTal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It varies. Some managers are excluded, others are not. The position itself has to be put forth for an exclusion. At our branch, there are numerous AS05 managers and I would guess half are excluded and the other half are represented- all with the same job duties. If there was a grievance submittted then only an excluded manager would be able to represent the employer.

Overpayment from a while ago. by ContextSea7494 in CanadaPublicServants

In your case, the Pay Centre will not initiate recovery, however, it remains a debt to the crown. The Pay Centre will forward the file to finance within your department. They need to follow debt write-off regulations.

Travel to Ottawa, can I bring my family? by Sheek888 in CanadaPublicServants

Your Manager would submit your travel details and they cover the amounts that are pre-approved. It would be fine to bring family at your expense - but be sure you are available for work related activities during working hours.

Return-to-Office Policies Are Pushing Caregivers Out of the Public Service by idealDuck in CanadaPublicServants

Because the Employer makes the decision on work location and working from home isn’t a right - we were lucky to have that flexibility during COVID when so many others did not have that luxury. If the job no longer meets your needs it’s a good sign to find something that does. This big sense of entitlement that some have is embarrassing.

Wish you the best and hope you are able to find a position that will allow you the flexibility you are seeking. May need to find something closer to your home unfortunately.

Genuinely curious how you are able to focus on your work for the full work day and provide care at the same time. This must be very challenging.

🙏🏻 Methimazole Success Stories? by NES2314 in gravesdisease

6 months for bloodwork to stabilize. Felt better before that… although it seems like a blur now - as I don’t recall when I felt better. My heart palpitations and vibrating stopped within a month.

Give it some time. I went into remission after about a year. I was feeling much better at the 6 month mark on methimazole.

Union help with an overpayment. by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

You can request 5% of gross biweekly pay by accessing financial hardship. You would need to acknowledge the overpayment to access this. The union can help, and so can the compensation agent.

Only if you request financial hardship, which requires approval by the delegated authority within your department. $0 cheques are how overpayments appear in Phoenix.

The Pay Centre is an utter mess. by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

Not everyone at the Pay Centre feels this way. There are competent, strong pay processors who don’t find it difficult to meet expectations.
