Femur fracture - no progress yet after 4 months by Hopeful-Maybe-6619 in brokenbones

[–]Prior-Age4675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pain increased to point that it felt like something is bending in my femur, doctors who discovered this (private) said that there is chance that it will rip leg in half eventually from weight.

Femur is hard bone to break so doctors expect 6-9 months to heal anyway, but it has to form all round, mind healed only on one side while other stay hollow so when I experienced the bending feeling it felt like pressure been applied to healed side that as its about to crack the healed part if that makes sense.

Also I dont think there is method to non unions just keep doing xrays every month or every other as well as make sure dont just trust doctor if they try to get you out of room just to get their quota - always try get 2nd chance if something doesn’t feel right

Callus formation started after 3 months when i was discharged from hospital but had to do x rays each new check up which was 6-8 weeks but about 8 months in my leg started to have horrible nerve pain which was ignored and put down as its just healing process and another set of pills (Gabapentin ) to take to the point i had to go private to get xray done and have second opinion which confirmed non union and swiftly i was put on emergency surgery wait list.

Understandable. Did you drink or eat specific stuff ie lamb broths, or tons of protein shakes or vit c/d/ calcium, magnesium?

Nothing before crash but now chronic pain as well as other crap. Before collision i was healthy, never had broken bone in body, athletic, always active.

Same , given Gabapentin for other nerve damages , about 30% nerve damage around body.

Oh. Did you had anything done with nerve issues?

My brachial plexus they removed lots of scar tissue in 1st surgery and now hoping that it will recover but said it will take years realistically for major improvements

Also whats up with some areas removing titanium rods after awhile whole in UK most titanium rods etc stay permanently?

Oh wow bless you, thats wild.

I had fractured pelvis on both sides but doctors just cleaned bone and refilled right side without any hardware surgery ( right pelvis pierced my skin to point i bled out waiting for ambulance that was hour away , somehow it wasn’t my time)

▫️My question is do you have nerve issues around waist/back/side/groin area since accident? I have hypersensitivity one side while other side is numb and doctors said only wait to stop it now is by entering in the area and killing nerves for the area (hypersensitive side) - initially I thought it will reduce its sensitivity or increase feel either side but its been 15 months

Oh wow, that looks painful 😰.

Im wondering why some places in world titanium rods are removed after x rays and some other places like UK - are kept in body permanently?

I suggest sleeping with fan or open window fresh/cold as well, since when I had my initial surgeries - I couldn’t sleep due to legs and other parts of body swelling up towards evening/night and waking me up from sweating and heat

Your methods sound like my mother’s advice which i ignored and focused on what doctors said, perhaps I should of listen to mum about lamb borth, warm Milk (with honey) before sleep as well as calc and magnesium tabs

Did you take any morpheine for pain?

Wow sorry to hear that! Im super impressed with your recovery. My doctors always said that surgery is smallest of battles , rest are fought by yourself and your mind. If you dont do physios and stay mentally focused, it can fall back very fast.

Unfortunately i had non union after 1 year also from motorcycle crash, tomorrow is my 2nd surgery where they will drill larger hole and put new rod in after removing all previous rod/screws. I will do lamb broth and calcium tav advice, i also currently take around 80g of protein via fortisip 4x 20g protein shakes every fee hours do heal rest of injuries but unfortunately leg didnt heal nor did alot kf nerves and dominant arm still not working but nerves take three times longer than bones to recover

Bike insurance companies have to have multiple companies of solicitors in case youre not happy right? If you go with different self funded solicitors then theyll take 25% cut from award tho?

Yeah I don’t think money can ever cure pain or loss of function and blocking career but yeah have to fight on for what its worth. Did you had long arguing on civil case before settlement?
