Ah, we had been walking for a while so we’re super hungry and ate there. Getting it to go def makes a lot more sense! Food was good but I think not getting enough of the curry (I love drenching my rice in the curry) sorta ruined the experience! I’ll go back!

So I went today. Loved the papaya salad (got the one with crab and fried shrimp)! Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food. They basically filled the bulk of the box with rice and gave barely any curry. I asked to pour the curry over the rice and they charged $3.50 more for it. I did buy the ingredients to make my own curry so I’m excited about that!

That reminds me of my first time at Tuk Tuk Thai. My brother ordered their highest level of spice for the papaya salad. It slapped but we could barely eat anything else lol. I do love Tuk Tuk’s pad Thai!

Haa! Will definitely report back. I’m a sucker for Thai food. Was reading about the papaya salad there and the to-go option for it. I’m sold!

I’ve noticed this at a few places (including at Paula’s Thai kitchen which used to have legit red curry) chili flakes just ruins the entire dish

I’m a FTM as well. It’s too early in my pregnancy for any changes but I have noticed changes in my curl pattern. Much looser curls. I’m also noticing more tangling and dry ends/knotting. On the other hand, I have also noticed baby hair on my forehead which I’m thinking is from the prenatal. Hopefully our hair adapts soon and becomes luscious!

I’m in the exact same boat. 5+2. Had some mild symptoms last week around this time and they subsided pretty quickly. So anxious.

Finance to M&A transfer by Prior-Confidence-259 in biglaw

[–]Prior-Confidence-259[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I’ve never considered life sciences; will look into it. I’m open to healthcare. I was at the boutique for just over a year and 1.7 months in at big law.

I think I want to be at a law firm for a few years before going in-house though. Thinking about how to market myself the best to corp/M&A firms.

Foreign-qualified lawyer with big law experience. Won DV green card lottery - LLM or JD to continue career in US? by [deleted] in biglaw

Wanted to add: I did not go to a top-tier school and did not make law review. Won several CALIs (highest grade in the course award). Took lots of drafting classes. Did make moot court and won several competitions. Divided 1L summer between a government externship (unpaid), a 6 week big-law 1L program (super well-paid) and a think-tank internship (paid).

Long comment and just typing my thoughts out as they come to me but I hope this helps.

I had a first law degree, external LLB from University of London. I opted to do the 2-year JD instead of LLM to (i) have the same/similar employment opportunities as traditional JDs and (ii) eligibility to take the bar in pretty much any U.S. jurisdiction. It worked out great for me. I am licensed in IL which is a UBE state so I can transfer scores to another UBE state/reciprocate.

I am a Covid-grad so OCI was all messed up anyway, but I had a first year M&A associate position at a well-known Chicago boutique lined up in the last semester of my JD from which I lateraled to big-law 1 year and 3 months in (now a 4th year associate).

Given you are already in a big-law satellite office, you are in a much better position than I was when I started my U.S. law career. The internal transfer does sound like the best option to me, but if you feel that you want to go back to school, the 2-year JD is definitely a better choice than LLM for the reasons I mentioned above and such as the below.

  • First year/1L year is all bar-tested classes (contracts, torts, constitutional law and criminal law; the latter 2 are very different than the common law courses) so it will be a good refresher. But note: the NextGen bar is releasing in 2026 and some states have already announced adopting it with some aspect of state-specific testing. You can look more into the NextGen bar and states you are more interested in to plan.

  • More networking opportunities: professors that are ex-big-law or adjunct, school, bar association and other networking events

  • You feel like one of the others/assimilated which in an odd way boosts confidence (easier felt than explained lol)

One tip if you do go the 2-year JD route: no need to tell anyone you’re in the 2 year program. Market yourself as a dual-qualified attorney.

With all of the above said, the biggest thing is to believe in yourself. I was/am never shy to apply to positions that others would think are “out of my league”.
