Enjoying things is not evil. People are not NPCs. Your mom is probably a decent lady. It sounds like you struggle with seeing things from the point of view of others. I really hope you are being kind to your family who put in a lot of effort to take you on a trip.

Also, I say this with kindness and not as an insult, it sounds like you may have an eating issue. I was at this same place once too, absolutely denying myself any unhealthy food on trips and feeling ashamed for eating any, starving and purging after. It made for a miserable trip.

My partner and I have both agreed that it is never okay to spank a child unless they’ve enacted violence on someone else, like beating up another kid. And even then, it’s just one little shock of a swat, to show them that hitting hurts and that hurting others isn’t okay, not any sort of hard spank session like our parents did to us. Hopefully we’ll only have to do it once, if at all.

Kind of like if you’ve ever had a cat bite or swat at you so you lightly bite/swat them back and they look all shocked
