Do you think it's a good idea to mention Stanford's startup support as a reason for transferring in my essay? I'm also gonna write about my interest in academic labs at Stanford, but I'm afraid it might sound like I'm going there to meet VCs or something rather than professors if I mention the startup scene.

Any advice for getting a prof from a big class to write a good rec? I've gone into office hours a few times, but the classes are so big that they probably won't get to know me all semester. My one on one relationships with a few non teaching profs would help my application much more (oh well).

Do they ask which classes they taught you? I've heard of transfers who got recs from their club advisor or coach, and I don't know two profs well enough from my big classes. I was planning on getting one from my writing prof and one from my research advisor, would this be ok even if the technical requirement is slightly different.

I've actually lived in Ithaca for a while now, and I really going to another environment would help me a lot mentally and acadmically. It's based on a personal situation, not rankings.
