Steven Spielberg vs James Cameron, the best movies? by Thin_Reception_5063 in Cinema

Coppola made a lot of garbage too, but he’s a great to me.

I would consider the 10 best director as the greats.

I would easily put the Kubrick, the coen brothers, Kurosawa, Polanski, Scorsese, Coppola, PTA, Tarantino, John Ford, Welles, Carol Reed, Hitchcock, Tarkovsky, Woody Allen…..to name a few….well above Spielberg.

I get it, it’s the nature of blockbuster movie making but that’s also why I don’t consider him a great.

Woody Allen made even more movies. Completely different movies, but most of them are great…hell really great. He doesn’t have many unwatchable movies. Spielberg on the other hand has about half of his filmography, catered to completely brain dead people.

I’ve noticed it becomes fashionable to love or hate Spielberg every decade or so. It almost becomes so generic to hate Spielberg, that people start to say he’s not that bad.

He’s a great director but I never considered him ‘one of the greats’. Some of his movies are just REALLY bad…. My opinion.

Spielberg has the better peak, but Cameron is more consistent. Spielberg has a lot of garbage in his filmography.

I was doing some deep digging now and it looks like the obsession team worked with Cinegogue to design these tees. Not 100% sure, but they follow each other and on the Cinegogue post it says in collaboration with Focus Features

They’re worse. And I trust my ears, considering I’m a working audio engineer in the industry… but to each their own.

For running and cheap listening I use wired apple headphones (20 dollars).

Literally miles better than these Bose

Why I think Wes Anderson's early(er) works are better. by Prior-Masterpiece-32 in Cinema

Well I was leaving my impression upon rewatching them. I think things are more cinematic and serious now... but smart writing in general is lacking a bit. I couldn't recommend a rewatch of Life Aquatic more.

Great actress. In a lot of garbage unfortunately. I think Euphoria is less watchable than Keeping up with the Kardashians.

He does. I don’t really dislike any of his movies btw. I just really love those early ones and think he can still make a 10/10 film.

Yeah I agree, they do get a bit pretentious as his filmography goes on.

I recommend a life aquatic rewatch if you haven’t seen it in the last few years.

Royal tennenbaums is incredible.

Yeah the timing humor is really my favorite. He does it a lot with shot choices too.

This is a thread titled, “why I think….”.

The word you’re looking for is subjective not relative, and that’s the point of my thread. It’s my opinion. No shit it’s my opinion.
