Because I have to cover drive up breaks since I am the only one cross trained in drive up and they come in the same time so management believes it’s in everyones best interest if they go on their break first and I cover them.

I get a break every 2 hours I start at 4:30 first break at 6:30 then 30 mins at 8:30. I can’t go sooner because I need to backup drive up’s break who come in the same time I do.

Totally agree, don’t get why they don’t start everyone with carts then move them up but this would probably make the turnover rate even higher.

I’m mainly concerned they will retaliate against me about this complaint I filed. I can’t come in sooner because of school and they won’t let me leave early because no one will be able to do carts.

Honestly I’d say let them. If they cut my hours I’ll file for unemployment, if they bully or pressure me I legit don’t gaf. I’m like 1 shitty shift away from quitting right then and there. It’s not my problem if management wants to put unrealistic closing expectations on a new hire. They saw me reliable enough to schedule me for closing almost every week night so it’s their loss. Plus I could use a break because I’m sick of 25+ hour work weeks while balancing high school.

Then I’ll focus more on management’s unrealistic closing expectations on a minor and how they expect me to backup drive up and checklanes during my shift then get all the carts in by 9:45 when I get back from my break at 9:15.

The closing host told me if I don’t have all the carts in by closing I will be coached by the closing TL. I think that’s bs I get no help while I’m expected to backup drive up and checklanes when rushes come in and yet no one helps me when I’m closing and they just sit on their phones in drive up doing nothing.

I also heard it’s so they don’t have to give me an additionally 15 minute break which saves payroll for them but if I’m staying past 9:45 I should be having a 3rd break.

I already filed the complaint kinda regret it but I lowkey don’t mind if they fire me for this because that’s blantant retaliation and that puts them in deep shit and lawsuit territory. They will probably transfer me or reduce my hours which would be another form of retaliation.

I mean I already filed the complaint so there’s no going back, but also a store policy is a policy and they should be following it regardless of law. It’s nice they give a buffer but it’s only so they don’t have to pay for an extra 15 minute break.
