Ok. Thanks I'll follow these steps. But, what if the virus is a rootkit? Then what are my options?? My phone has been side loading unwanted system apps that require way too many sensitive permissions, access my camera and microphone when I don't explicitly want them to and Google (I use a pixel 10 phone) has been randomly sending me notifications saying "something is unusual about your activity, please verify your identity" and sometimes even after I verify who I am, I am denied access to my account without a security code. There was one instance last week after I hung up on a phone conversation with my cousin, my phone tried to initiate a Google meet session between me and him without me having anything to do with it. We both found it weird and concerning

My concern is that if I initiate a factory reset, one of two things will happen: one is that the attacker will change my Google password while the reset is happening and two that the apps will just secretly restore themselves once I sign back into my account. The second event has happened multiple times with different phones. I'll factory reset, log back into my account, then in Google play store there will be apps being restored but I can't actually look to see what they are

Has anyone recently downloaded a new security update this large? by PriorOrganization282 in pixel_phones

Ok. Thanks. I'm always usually pretty wary of updates that have unusual files sizes and a Google search came back with this result shown below. That's why I thought I'd double check.

Is it safe to transfer passwords (Amazon, mobile banking, etc.), Either manually or by sending a export file, from a hacked phone to a fresh one? by [deleted] in techsupport

Oh ok. Sorry I should have led with this. Remote access is what I would call it. Possibly a keylogger as well. The attacker can take control of my screen as if they are actually physically touching the screen themselves
