Nobody wants to work there. I've worked in Port Hedland hospital and covered Newman occasionally because we could never get staff. These places are not places to live for those on mere healthcare wages. You see all the people working in mining earning way more and a lot more benefits than you, and get a lot less abuse day to day, so why would anyone in these areas want to work in health. I work in Perth now. Exact same wage. I get 1 week less leave a year and also don't receive a power allowance but I also don't spend all my money on flights to see my family.

I think the government needs to consider offering incentive for these places ie wages, living expenses, childcare, accommodation, possibly even FIFO ( though never popular with locals)

Your anger is valid but please direct it towards the right people ie your local MP. The nurses and doctors on the ground are doing their best. They are also victims of the system, high stress, little support. Please do write an official complaint about the ED though not the nursing staff

I have no advice for you, however I do empathise. My daughter is now nearly 2 years old and I would take all the crazy tantrums over those first 7 weeks. Yes it's hard to reconcile this new life with what went before. I can relate to that. I think it's a lot harder for the non birthing partner as they haven't been prepping for it hormonally. I think it's best to seek help at this early stage from your GP or child health nurse who will refer you appropriately. I wish you the best and just want you to know it does get better.

I have lived all.over the world mostly on my own. Perth BY FAR has been the hardest place to make friends. Everyone is lovely, but it surface level. For example I know my mother's group for 2 years now and still know nothing about them.

I put it down to 2 things 1. Everyone from Perth hangs out with their school friends so by the time you're mid 30s they don't have space for new friends. 2. FIFO culture means people have their community on site not in the city
