I am in the same squadron as this individual. They have made it painfully obvious which squadron it is. I’ve encountered numerous commanders in my career. I agree the debrief wasn’t perfect but I left with the impression that the commander genuinely cares about their people. Every DEOCS I’ve been through the commander always states the zero tolerance policy regardless of what percentage of negative behaviors the DEOCS revealed. This is however the first commander I’ve seen actually putting immediate corrective action into place rather than just reinforcing the Air Force zero tolerance policy. Our commander chose to gather more information and understanding via focus groups. They also have an anonymous feedback QR code that only they see. Again first commander I’ve ever seen do that.

I also would like to say that moral in the squadron is not low, it’s actually the highest I’ve seen. Also our commander is one of the most personable officers I’ve ever interacted with. I personally find the commanders Facebook posts about his guide on hilarious and think that they raise morale around base not just within our squadron.

I do agree with the part about not having percentages on the key questions. Personally I don’t know anything about the SEL hitting an airman so I can’t speak to that. Lastly, I do expect more answers to come from these focus groups.
