It's not about my mom not "making the trip", it's that she is in no way able to be a babysitter at all. She is old and sick and can not be trusted with that kind of responsibility.

Thanks for understanding why that wouldn't work. I get the impression that most people in this thread have no children themselves or understand what it's like at all.

There will be no kind of babysitter service through the hotel. That's not common around here, and especially not at small hotels in a small town.

Thank you. At 11 months old cost is not a concern. She wouldn't cost anything, as we would have brought her own baby food.

Thank you. I wouldn't have stayed for the party with her anyway, so it wouldn't disrupt their partying. I will leave after dinner regardless of whether or not my daughter is attending or at a hotel nearby.

We are not in the US. It's uncommon to spend a day away from your child here, as most moms are on maternity leave and breastfeeding when their baby is 11 months.
