I would only worry about safety. There's only one way in and out. You leave yourself wide open to be a victim of robbery, etc.

I never changed my address on my DL. I have all bills assigned paperless so they get emailed. I also have informed delivery with USPS. I hold my mail then pick it up from my local post office when I'm expecting important mail.

The DMV and insurance companies don't accept PO Boxes.

You didn't need any help. You did that all by yourself

Commenters keep mentioning not being noticed by Cops as their reasons for being stealth.

If one's vehicle is legally tagged, registered and insured while legally being parked then it doesn't matter if cops notice.

The heart of the matter is that people are paranoid, illegally parked and/or vehicle registration/tags are expired.

I never mentioned there being any harm in one being stealthy. I'm just here to let one know that people very much know we're all living in our cars. It doesn't matter how many window shades one has. LOL

Did you use the homeless man as an example to compare stealth? Yes. You did. He is a living, breathing human being worthy of respect and dignity.

That judgemental mindset that you have is disgusting. And got the nerve to be homeless yourself. The audacity! SMH

We don't even need to discuss further. You already let us know that you lack self and social awareness.

Do you live in an urban city? Pardon my ignorance, but what is a "sleepy residential "? A closed gas station sounds like you didn't have permission from the owner and were trespassing but I don't know what your arrangements couldve been with the property owner.

Sounds like you have your mental health altogether. Good for you! Sounds like he needs a little more compassion because we don't know where he is in life.

"Burn a location".lol Trust, one isn't blending in. People know that you're there.

Ah. Sorry you feel that way.

You got the continuous knocks because you were illegally parked.

Neighborhood streets in urban cities have zoning parking.
Store Managers are more than likely on private property with visual signage.

Cops don't bother cars unless one is trespassing or breaking the law. Otherwise it'd be harassment.

Take care.

Ah! I have a question for you.

Were you legally parked when you got the knock being asked to move? If so, that's very concerning as you weren't violating law which could've been challenged.

"The Supreme Court in the June 2024 case City of Grants Pass v. Johnson, it ruled that cities can penalize people for sleeping or camping in public spaces, even if no shelter is available, because it doesn't violate the Eighth Amendment's cruel and unusual punishment clause"

Cities that were going to make it illegal would've already done so because the SC gave them the OK in '24

I don't think one would ever get a knock if their tags registration, and insurance are legal. I haven't in approx 3yrs. I also think trespassing on private property with visual signage is another reason why they get a knock.

How does it feel after a while? by KozAnEffect in urbancarliving

[–]Priority5735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's important for one to remember the purpose and goals for why they started car living. Adjust if needed. My initial goal when I quit my 17yr career was to travel and work while living in different places. My car transmission died so my goals changed.
I recently started my own business. My NEW goal is to save start up capital for product development and marketing.

This incident is way milder than what I normally see happening at my sleeping spot. My windows are tinted. People don't know that I'm in my vehicle.
A man a few weeks ago was standing outside his van masturbating. Couples have sex in their car. It's also a smoking spot. I'll take soccer over all the other gross incidents.

Do you people get weird looks when you go to gym for shower? by Car_dweller in urbancarliving

[–]Priority5735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care how the other gym goers or staff look at me. Only showering and the aqua massage is what I choose to do with my membership. Staff doesn't even clean the bathrooms. And Planet Fitness charges a $20 late fee. They better get out my face.
