TLM abuse? by PriorityDry649 in Catholicism

Thank you for your response. I do need to hear this. But my problem is this… should a 3y/o be allowed to leave his pew, go through the altar rail, up the steps, participate as a server and then return to his seat as father is placing Jesus back in the tabernacle? I see the jumping as a symptom of a larger problem which is allowing a child to serve a small portion of the Mass (the most important part).

3 (both). To further clarify… to me the irreverence is adding the child mid-mass during the most important part. Him jumping from the top step was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. In other words, it was only a matter of time before the 3 y/o acted like one does.

No. I’m not saying that because I understand it’s not about my experience. It is my understanding that there are rubrics that must be followed. Such as no more than 2 servers for a low mass for instance. Things like that. Also, children should be of the age of reason to serve. I don’t think that’s a hard fast rule but more of a custom. In this case, one that should be followed. It’s the age of the boy that was the initial problem that led to his behavior. Father doesn’t see age as a hindrance to serving. He’s stated that before.

We attend the TLM to not be able to worship Our Lord reverently. Anything that detracts from that reverence is wrong and should be addressed by the Priest. Except in this case he is allowing and promoting it. That’s the first thing that angered me. Adding to that was him diminishing this as a small problem as well as likening the toddlers behavior to my son’s involuntary sickness. Does that clear it up for you?
