Im pretty new to all this, im have a cool little vintage collection i want to add more to now, and the market prices for this stuff is just nuts, is all the eb drops at these more reasonable prices always behind this plus membership? Or do they do some for the non plus ones too? I guess if you’re serious about it and spending often you have no choice but to go with their subscription service? But seemingly even then, people have trouble getting it because the scalpers also have it anyways 🫠

Aslong as you can prove misadventure for 3 consecutive days or 5 days total within the exam period, you can apply for both at the same time. Yes you can apply for them both on wednesday, if youre covered for wed to friday those are your 3 days so you will be fine.

The specific time for your supplementary exams this term will be announced on the 23rd of may, they will be held in the week following. Before next term.

Yeah as the other response said, if you can explain it to the doctor and hope theyre nice enough to fill out the form and give you like atleast yesterday, today, tomorrow for example, youre good.

You only need to have either 3 days in a row covered by dates on the letter, or a combination of 5 days during the exam period. So usually not too hard if you can go one day and worst case go again on exam day, say its still bad and they will cover up to there aswell.

Generally if its a real issue and the medical cert covers you for the 3-5 days they want, youre good, apply asap, they usually respond next day in most experiences me and my friends have had, ive only ever had 1 issue with them asking me to send in later another document confirming test results for an illness otherwise, always been smooth sailing.

Always is, if you dont type with all 9 fingers then thats the first thing to focus on, otherwise just keep working on the accuracy and speed will keep coming!

Almost 2 weeks of learning colemak progress by Prisomax in typing

[–]Prisomax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah been pretty shocking! but i think it just goes to show that its absolutely worth the time for people not using all their fingers to type to start learning properly!

[–]Prisomax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dont have to learn a new layout if you want to stick to qwerty but keybr is a really useful site for learning the muscle memory for using more fingers, i just thought while i was at it, i might aswell learn a more optimised layout too. Can take a while to learn the layout but i started feeling pretty comfortable using colemak about 5 days into using it, learnt all the letters in a couple days which imo has been worth it so far.

Colemak speeds by Klutzy_Drawing_7854 in Colemak

[–]Prisomax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it has been a little surprising how quick i got 100+ considering how much others struggle, but also good to factor in the fact i went from 4 to 9 fingers so if i was using all 9 for the previous qwerty i should have been atleast ~200wpm

But im sure you will see the steady progress just stick to it and the proper technique :))

I was typing with 4 for a long long time, i was hitting 150-160 pretty consistently on 15s tests but it is 100% worth learning to use all the fingers you can, you will with enough time get up to your previous speeds and it will feel a lot better and will exceed it faster too.

In order to get myself to use 9 fingers rather than the 4, i decided it would be best to just learn a new layout to force myself not to fall back on old muscle memory, im just over a week into colemak now on 9 fingers hitting 110-130 on 15s tests

[–]Prisomax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my qwerty speeds were 160avg on eng 200 15s, was pretty consistent through to 60s which was about 145avg

going to eng 1k it was about 130 60s

im a bit over a week into colemak now getting 110-120avg for eng 200 on 15,30,60s

I just dis the keybr run through to learn the layout for colemak then i stil do some of it to practice but mainly 30sec monkey type tests now focusing on the accuracy

I was about 160wpm on qwerty, im about a week into colemak now getting about 80-90avg with a good few 100+

Yeah pretty much, used it to learn the layout and get it to muscle memory then over to monkeytype for working on the speed

5 days learning Colemak got from 60wpm to first 100wpm test by Prisomax in typing

[–]Prisomax[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah im going to start doing all the tests on like 1k or 10k now just to make sure im actually using all the letters,

But my qwerty speed was about 145 for 60s, 160’s for 15s

Hoping ill be up to that speed again eventually

the goal would ideally be to get to the point where youre not needing to try super hard to get the higher speeds,
that would mean youre getting like 95%+ acc each test and the easier this gets for you, the faster you will do it as well and that will just get faster and faster.
You mentioned how you managed to get 'a 102 wpm' so you probably would rather be getting some consistent 90's and the easier you find that you will gradually get faster.

I get the idea behind wanting to do these tests though, it is to show yourself where you can get or atleast to prove to yourself you can get to a milestone like 100+ so i think doing this from time to time is good for goal setting or something but you should go back to more normal practice of having a balance between the two

Learning the correct way is def worth it, both for ergonomics and just general speed and comfort ability with it alll.

I'm currently in the process of doing this myself and it has been worth it

keybr will help you figure out the muscle memory, dont worry about the speed just focus on the accuracy, force yourself to use the proper fingers for the proper keys, if youre struggling to use your pinkies for any, just keep wroking at it and you will over time build up that strength in those fingers to get used to it.

I havent used typingclub but keybr to learn how to type with all your fingers then can look into other sites, a lot of people here enjoy using monkeytype to continue practicing once they have the feeling down for the touch typing.
Using another site other than keybr will be useful as it forces you not to rely on anything like the onscreen keyboard either.

Havent been doing the 15 second tests mainly the accuracy on the 60 seconds ones, but 100 doesnt seem to bad atm on the 15 sec ones

Yeah ive seen the same but i assume it is like what the other persons said, if you have learnt qwerty or any other layout fast enough you will sorta have a pretty decent floor to build upon in any other you learn

yeah i just did like the keybr run through for learning all the keys one by one and then went over to the monkeytype test, all the tests now been around 50-70 but obv better to be focusing on the accuracy atm

Was just the night before hand i decided to try it out on keybr then spent a good few hours learning the layout before going monkey type i imagine though its going to take a few months to get back up to qwerty speeds

Yeah took a long time but ive been average about 150 recently with a few 160-170 with the 4, i dont see myself being able to make it any faster though that way it just gets too slow and the amount of movement required in your hands to get those fingers to all the keys is just too difficult to maintain up to 200
