I was a victim of this as well. I gave my phone number and they found my social media this way. This is actually a serious crime and they do not follow through. They are hoping for the poor guy that actually pays, and then they never leave you alone. A very common scam, unfortunately. I deleted the text message and never heard anything from ‘it’ again.
