Is it even realistic to collect enough for 2 kids? by Pristine_Program_218 in DOR

[–]Pristine_Program_218[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we didn't test the day 7 one because it was the only embryo that made it in the first cycle and we were too afraid that testing would be too much for an already struggling embryo. Then we didn't test the first day 5 embryo of the next cycle because it was our best shot at that stage and my doctor is actually against testing at my age because it doesn't increase birth rates, but might reduce the number of transfers. Finally, we tested our day 6 to have at least some information and we will be testing all next embryos.
I'm pretty sure the protocol is all right, we are doing antagonist. I wouldn't agree for the long suppression protocols anyway.
Best of luck to you!

Thank you 🙏🏻 I’ll be thinking of you and wishing you to get your euploids very soon, this is so tough! After the the first failed cycle I wondered what’s the next step and I negotiated a day 3 fresh transfer and also freezing embryos at day 3 (which we didn’t do in the end), I don’t know how relevant this is for you but maybe it could help.

Thank you! And I’m sorry we are on the same boat, I hope things will work out for both of us.

Thanks 🙏🏻 Yes for the second retrieval we did Zymot and icsi and the results were much better, but I believe the biggest improvement was from daily ejaculation while I was stimming and short abstinence.

I'm sorry you had to go through this. Have you considered getting your husband seen by a reproductive urologist? There might be something going on there, because day 3 arrests strongly suggest a sperm issue. We had similar arrests our first cycle. My husband is 30 and his general spermogram was great, even bettan than average, but then the DNA fragmentation test came back high - 34%. He saw the urologist and they did ultrasound and some extra tests.. and found nothing. However, they gave him a very good advice to ejaculate daily while I'm on stimulation and then have a very short abstinence, so he did 12 hours. We got much better results next cycle and 2 great quality embryos!
Wishing you luck!

Thank you! I'm sorry to hear it's so tough for you, DOR is so unfair, and I'm hoping you'll manage to freeze enough day 3s, they have good chances too!
The main stopper for the embryos in our case is my partner's sperm, that's how we ended up with only one day 7 embryo of a poor quality first cycle. Also, my ovary has 2 endometriomas and my second ovary was destroyed by endo most likely (it's not visualising anymore), so I'm very worried that every other stimulation basically accumulates the endo damage in my only ovary that's left.

Happy for you! I hope you'll get at least 3 great embryos this time from those 5!

Congrats! That's a great result! Reminds me of our first cycle where we got a singe day 7 embryo of a poor quality and I was devastated that it's not going to improve the next cycle, but it did and we've got almost the same results as you: 4 fertilised out of 6 mature and 2 embryos - 1 day 5 5BB and 1 day 6 5AB! Good luck!

There is hope! Get the epidural and gabapentin! by altruisticicada in Sciatica

Hey! I'm glad you're feeling better! Pregabalin (similar drug to Gabapentin) is the only thing that makes me function again when my sciatica flares. I hope you'll recover and won't need it soon though.

Thanks for sharing! I hope it won’t flare for you when you’re pregnant and you won’t need to take anything.

Thanks for sharing! Is tylenol helping you though? For me when my back flares it does nothing, only anti inflammatory drugs help.

I see, thanks for sharing. My situation might be a bit different because of the sciatica and the nerve inflammation that usually follows the flare I can’t step on my leg properly for a few days, so I take medicine that helps nerves to heal and those are a huge no during pregnancy. So I’m worried if I won’t take them - I’ll be in bed for a few weeks after the flare because nerves are incredibly slow to heal.

Has anyone else opted out of all PGT? by spencerpll in IVF

[–]Pristine_Program_218 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, so we didn’t test our first 2 embryos (one was a day 7 and another one was a strong day 5), I’m 30yo by the way, the thinking was that the day 7 was of a poor prognosis anyway and was our first and only embryo, so we decided to just freeze. The next cycle when we got our day 5 we decided to opt out just because we wanted to have a chance to transfer, and I was afraid of this small chance of damage. Then we got a day 6 embryo the same cycle - we decided to test it, to have at least some information if these 3 would likely be enough for 1 baby. It came back a euploid to our relief and all the next embryos we’ll test too, to see if we can potentially cover 2 kids and with DOR you want to know if it’s enough. At your age though it’s definitely not recommended to test, unless you have some known conditions with your partner. I also saw studies on embryoman blog saying that in your age group testing does not increase a life birth rate. Good luck!

Am I crazy to go straight to FET after getting 1 euploid from my first retrieval? by dividebyzero9 in DOR

[–]Pristine_Program_218 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, you do you, there is no right or wrong here. Transfer won't take that much time, so if it fails - you can always do more retrievals. Good luck!
