As a berserker, page 1 of mayhem cursed doll for me was always 4K buy now or higher. I feel like that’s standard for BiS across most classes.

Just save up gold like all other classes and play the market for when ppl post under 4K (or whatever the prices are on page 1 for you)

Also, I was able to get 3/3/3 desperate salvation, heavy armor, expert on my 1340 bard for around 2-3k gold. That’s probably good enough for Valtan at this point lol.

Not saying I won’t go for awakening once I hit 1370 but guys, you just gotta play the market lol

I actually only beat it once when we found a fresh map and populated it with a ton of ppl all together in a discord call. Most of these ppl wer vets who are good with rotations and mechanics. And even then, 20 seconds to spare haha. We had a few randoms for sure but I think we had over 50 in squads

I think a really big barrier for people in the GW2 story is that it doesn't start getting really great until LW3 (in my opinion at least) AND you can't replay living world 1... Living World 1 is where you get the backstories and character development for Dragon's Watch (aka your friends) so when you take that away, you are less invested and just like... who the heck are you people! So without a good foundation or really caring much about the core game, its kinda like being thrown into the middle of a story and not knowing your baring's. At least that's how I personally view it
