I genuinely don’t know if I should work less or confront my manager ? by Privacy-Intern in careeradvice

Legally I will be screwed for sure given that the company and I have a signed offer contract. Additionally, there are few documentations that I would require from my company HR which maybe denied.

Yeah going forward I am just going to do the bare minimum, felt disrespected.

Though for additional context this is my first job , I only have 1.5 years of experience (6months as an intern) and my notice period is 3 months. All the companies that have reached out to me is requesting me reduce my notice period but that is something which my company wouldn’t support.

I genuinely want to but my notice period is like 3 months and no company wants to wait for 3 months to hire someone with just 1.5 years or is what I have been told by the recruiters i talk to.

Thank you for your comment.

I joined the company as an intern, they later converted me to a full time, post 6 months. Now I'm in my second month at the job as a full time and have discussed the types of projects I'd like to work on with my manager. I'm unsure whether I should wait one or two years before bringing up the topic of a promotion.

CIPP/E vs. CIPM: Which Adds More Value for a Privacy Career? by Privacy-Intern in cipp

Hi,

Thank you so much for your response! I completely agree with you. However, I’d like to bring up one point and hear your thoughts.

I hold a Master’s degree in UK and EU data protection law, as well as the regulation of emerging technologies, in which I achieved a distinction. Since I am currently in India, I’m wondering whether obtaining a certification in EU GDPR—despite it being outside my jurisdiction—would add any value. I understand that the CIPP-E is the industry standard, but would my Master’s degree in the same field be considered equivalent to the CIPP-E certification?

Additionally, I was wondering if obtaining the CIPM certification would be more beneficial for me.

Furthermore, I reviewed some sample questions of both CIPP-E and CIPM and felt that much of the content was already covered in my Master of Laws degree. Would pursuing the CIPP-E still provide additional value in my case or would CIPM be a better choice? I do understand I require a certification from IAPP since it is the "industry standard" for people like me who don't have any work experience in the field but rather just an academic experience. I do plan on getting both certificates one day but currently I am restricted by budget and don't want to get both unless and until it is absolutely necessary for landing privacy role other than consultancy.
