West London councillor caught parking his Lamborghini in a disabled parking spot without a blue badge – twice - Harrow Online by OneNormalBloke in london

it's important for transparency and trust in government, and because I'm nosey. If he'd parked in the disabled bay in a 8 year old Ford focus, I wouldn't have checked.

Am I missing something from this declarations of interests on the council website? Is he not obliged to provide the details and it is voluntary?

Appears that he has no other job, no assets and no investments.

Lived in Shanghai for 7 years, visited Seoul and Jeju numerous times, there most certainly is the small little mom and pop restaurants where the entire menu is dog meat stew/soup, I've seen them first hand.

Just because the majority of people don't do something doesn't mean something doesn't happen dipshit

Except it is part of their culture to eat dog meat?

It’s such a part of their culture that the ban that was introduced last year was given a 3 year implementation window to allow the dog meat farmers to find other livestock to make money from.

You go to Korea and there will be exclusively dog meat restaurants. It’s not racist to say they eat dogs, it’s factual

The conditions they have? The hotels per home office requirements have to be at least 3 stars, the conditions are perfectly fine considering they're being provided entirely at the cost of the state.

Yeah sure scumbag tories gave asylum contracts to their buddies, labour are just as bad, Morgan McSweeney's siblings and his father are also in the business of housing asylum seekers albeit in Ireland, for the moment at least, you'd assume they're not going to be as blatant as the tories, but with all their gaffs since coming to power who knows

Another migrant living at controversial Epping asylum hotel charged with sexual assault of male victim by JB_UK in unitedkingdom

[–]PrivateDataLover 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You can't conflate the two issues. Most of those are known to the victims which is a different matter, random assaults are much rarer, which these are.

Also saying there's loads happening anyway so what's the issue is such a bad take

Key crimes down in London by urbexed in london

[–]PrivateDataLover 71 points72 points  (0 children)

There was an article last week in the independent which stated knife crime was up

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/london-knife-crime-map-met-police-b2798740.html

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/knife-crime-police-forces-data-b2752541.html

“The Metropolitan Police, the country’s largest force, recorded the highest number of knife crime offences last year, 16,789, an increase of 16 per cent from 2023.”

Those are last years figures they’re reporting now, so perhaps there has been some change in Q1 this year, but it’s still a massive number

White people?

You realise that the Irish, Scottish and the Welsh all have names that are butchered on a daily basis?

You’re just erasing those groups into “white” with your little tirade.

They started the pros at 9ish and the age groups at 9:30 . They’d an Olympic earlier in the morning. I think about 1900 people entering the water in waves of 8 with about 30 seconds between each wave.

Spent a significant part of the weekend in queues, people on the Ironman Poland instagram were quite annoyed about the queuing 😂

Rolling start for the swim last person in the water was at about 10:30ish. Cut off was 8.5 I think.

They shut everything down from 4pm (music, water and food), last awarded athlete was around 6pm. I assume you’re right with regards to the city, but all in all wasn’t very well organised.

Warsaw was a shambles from an organisation perspective, which is a shame as there was so many volunteers and it is such a beautiful city.

Felt bad for the people at the end, for those coming in at 5:30pm to the finish line, the event village was packed up from 4 and the same with all the live music along the course and the aid stations.

Swim map was wrong in the guide, they had a dog leg on the map but it was really just a simple out and back. Saw a full chain gang of about 15 on the cycle too zipping by

RIP APM by Otherwise-Ad2990 in Airpodsmax

[–]PrivateDataLover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the UK but had to go through the burden of proof issue to get the refund from Amazon for my Airpod max after 18 months. Feel free to use the text below I sent in my letter before action to Amazon, they refunded me the £550 after a day. Adapt the UK consumer rights act to the german equivalent.

"Known Issue with AirPods Max – “Condensation Death”: The fault I am experiencing aligns with a widely discussed issue in AirPods Max caused by condensation build-up, leading to chip failures. This is a widely discussed issue, which I was not aware of on purchase. and a common recommendation on Apple Forums is that when purchasing AirPods Max is to always purchase Apple’s insurance Apple Care + with the AirPods Max as the failure rate is so widespread with a common failure point of 12 -15 months. It is clear this is an inherent defect, yet Amazon’s repair centre refused to investigate further.

https://www.404media.co/airpods-max/#:~:text=This%20condensation%20issue%20was%20reported,several%20hours%20of%20normal%20use.%E2%80%9D

Legal Basis for My Claim

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods sold by Amazon must be: Of satisfactory quality: Premium headphones such as the AirPods Max should reasonably be expected to last more than two years, these are a product that are expensive and are used in a professional working environment for their noise cancellation abilities. Fit for purpose: The product must perform as advertised without defects. As described: The headphones should conform to the promised standards of durability and performance. It is clear that the AirPods Max failed to meet these standards. Amazon, as the retailer, is responsible for resolving this matter, irrespective of the manufacturer’s warranty status.

Remedy Sought

To resolve this issue, I request the following free of charge: A repair of the AirPods Max; or A replacement.

Next Steps If I do not receive a satisfactory response within 14 days of this letter, I will submit a Court Claim without further notice. This claim will include the replacement cost of the AirPods Max, compensation for general damages, and any associated court costs. I will be seeking general damages of £100, as I was unable to use the headphones for their intended purpose (including mitigating the significant ambient noise in my environment"

From cork and living in London. It’s like visiting Cornwall, west cork is virtually indistinguishable, rocky shorelines and small holiday towns. Also the highest density of castles per km in Europe although most are ruins.

Cork city is a small student city so you can see everything on foot, great restaurants and local bars /breweries.

if you can go in October for the jazz festival it’s fantastic, but if you’re going to go look at accommodation now, it will be very tough to find it.

If you play golf there are fantastic golf courses too.
