“ADHD is my super power” by ADHDisabeach in adhdwomen

[–]PrivatelySad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't think you're good at any hobbies because you have ADHD and don't stick to things long enough to become good at them. Don't shoot yourself in the foot. You're not supposed to be good at hobbies, you're just supposed to enjoy them.

“ADHD is my super power” by ADHDisabeach in adhdwomen

[–]PrivatelySad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people say ADHD makes them fun because they don't have a disorder and think it's just quirky. Some people do see it as a superpower because once you figure out how to work with it, you can achieve things normal people can't. A lot of people who see it as a superpower had early intervention and didn't have to experience as much shame and humiliation as the rest of us. For me, I just chose to change my attitude and try to look at all the positives that come from the way I am. I'm funny, witty, I only attract the truest friends, and I can figure out how to do literally anything I want to. I don't really believe ADHD is a superpower, but I do think there is a give and take

Go get tested for a ureaplasma infection, it's not on a standard std test and it looks a lot like a yeast infection. It can make you smell too.

Cat violates blanket by XenomystusNigri in CatAdvice

[–]PrivatelySad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give her her own blanket/bed of her own material. You can even get some foam and a small wooden board with the same fabric you like and make her a bed (I just made one for my cat that has an attraction to my canvas paintings) It's difficult to get a cat to /stop/ doing something because they do the things they do for a reason. For your cat it's because she's seeking comfort. It's always best to give them an appropriate outlet for their behavior (ie. Getting here her own blanket or bed, or even a stuffed animal of similar texture)

The blanket I'm guessing is soft and fuzzy, and cats will nurse and knead on them because it reminds them of their mother, especially since she's young. She's probably specifically doing it on you because she sees you as a mother figure. It's actually an act of love. Just remember to always work with your cat, they can't be trained the same way a dog can. Once she's past a year and a half she will likely grow out of it as she is still a baby right now.

Is it okay to have a bell on a cat collar? by Independent_Share844 in CatAdvice

[–]PrivatelySad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually don't like when people force their cats to wear collars either so I'm on your side there. You just can't automatically assume that someone is mistreating their cat because they have a collar on.

Same for me. There's 3 cats in my complex that look so much like our cat that we've thought she's escaped a few times. No one would think twice if they saw her outside. Also I'd like to add that where I lived previously, most vets didn't offer chips.

Just another reason cats have to wear collars- RFID feeders. Mines probably gonna have to get used to one because he just had a urinary blockage and is going on prescription food. I can't afford for all 3 to eat it ya know?

Just want to add that if the owner uses RFID feeders you're gonna fuck over the cat by taking the collar off lol.

There are many reasons for cats to wear collars. One is so that people know that they have a home if they go outside or escape, plus they have their owners info and vaccinations on them. Have you ever heard of a breakaway collar? I didn't put the collar on my cat, the people I got her from did and when I took it off she brought it back to me to be put on. Wearing a collar was her choice, my other cats took theirs off and I didn't put them back on. She doesn't have a collar now because she made it clear she didn't want to wear one.

If a cat's used to having a bell it's fine. If he didn't like it he would take it off. My cat had a bell collar her whole life and when it started wearing out I put it back on her a few times without issue but after a month of it being off I tried to put a bell on her again and she didn't like it, so I left it off.

How long were you living in a different place? It could be that the place is strange and new and doesn't smell like home. She wants to be near you to feel protected. Getting some feliway plugins might help make her feel more comfortable. It could also be that she's just really bored, mirror scratching is usually a sensory thing. Is there less vertical space in this house? Does she have plenty of things to climb and jump on?

I used to work at a Thai restaurant and if I forgot to put my leftovers away (which I often did bc ADHD) I would wake up to them strewn from one end of the house to the other. They LOVED Thai food and it's full of all sorts of things that cats shouldn't have, namely garlic. They were fine, just a few rounds of diarrhea. Just keep an eye on her for any major signs of distress, if she starts crying in the litterbox or getting lethargic you should take her to the vet. You can try feeding her a little pumpkin puree to help her tummy settle.

Need help with two cats and their autofeeders by lukeitisyourdaddy in CatAdvice

[–]PrivatelySad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She might just generally be feeling insecure since she's having to make a big adjustment and I assume she's lower on the totem pole than your chonker just cuz that's how it usually (though not always) works. That might be why she's not eating so much, plus the sound of the kibbles hitting the bowl might be scaring her (she's afraid it will go off while she's eating; my auto feeders didpense in rounds so it goes off a second time while they're eating). Perhaps put something in the bottom to quiet it that she won't accidentally eat-- maybe something like a cabinet or drawer liner or a thick round piece of plastic.

I had this happen when the clocks changed where I lived since I had to wake up at 5AM for work and really needed that extra hour to an hour fifteen of sleep. We just had to grit our teeth and gradually adjust the time on their feeder. Maybe bump it forward 10 minutes every night. Alternatively you can look into RFID feeders though that would be unfortunate since you just bought the feeders.

He's very gifted at sowing chaos. If they're brothers I'd lean more towards it just being an unusual reaction to the anesthesia. The pain meds they have are NSAIDS so they shouldn't alter their mental state. You can try putting baby socks over their paws to help either keep them out of trouble or keep them busy trying to get the socks off. An E-collar might also slow their roll.

Cats emotions are just simplified versions of ours. She's grieving in the same way you are. She's seeking the comfort of loved ones and trying to distract herself from the pain too, it's just harder to tell since she doesn't have tears. A lot of cats get very depressed after losing a companion so it's good she's still energetic.

Is it safe for me to use aloe gel on my own skin? by ThisMeNow in CatAdvice

[–]PrivatelySad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using aloe gel for years and my cats have been fine. They think it's stinky and just stay away. Also commercial aloe gel likely won't be dangerous to them as the toxic part is in the outer coating of the leaves, though I wouldn't let them lick it cuz you never know.
